The 24th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO24) ndash 16-20 July 2018 Rome FAO headquarters ndash will assess the contributions forests can make to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
To contribute to this important meeting the FAO Library in collaboration with the Forestry Department is highlighting some pertinent literature on three topics that are high on the COFO24 agenda urban forestry forests and biodiversity and forests for food security and nutrition
COFO 24 is being held in conjunction with World Forest Week 6

The bibliographic records of these articles can be accessed by performing a ldquocited reference searchrdquo ie searching the bibliographies of the publications inside the WoSWrite to fao-library-loansfaoorg to receive the full text of any of these articles
The graph above shows the 10 journals that have cited FAOrsquos ldquoState of the Worldrsquos Forestsrdquo the most The WoS offers many different ways to analyze search results

1972 the first COFO sessionThe Committee on Forestry (COFO) was established by the FAO Conference at its 16th Session as a Committee of the Council (1971 Resolution 1071) The first session of COFO was held in Rome from 8 to 13 May 1972 and focussed on topics as lsquoforestry and the environmentrsquo lsquoman in the technology of forestryrsquo and the establishment of a World Forestry Day

ldquoTraiteacute des arbres et arbustesrdquo by DuhamelDuhamel a French botanist developed and tested new methods of horticulture agriculture and forestry on his fatherrsquos large estate The Traiteacute des arbres et arbustes contains 250 full-page woodcuts and 190 small engra-vings The library has six editions four in French one in Italian and one in GermanThe book will be on display during the month of July inside the Library
