Purpose of the Role A Farm Business Manager is responsible for achieving optimal operational performance of a large farm and as such will be highly skilled in all aspects of the farm business. In this role you will be responsible for implementing the short and long term business plans. In addition, the Farm Business Manager will be required to develop networks with internal and external stakeholders, actively participate in regional discussion groups, forums and initiatives to build reputational equity of Pāmu within the community and region. Scope and Scale The Farm Business Manager will report to the Senior Business Manager as a member of the Livestock Operations team. This role has significant financial accountability, you will work with your Senior Business Manager to drive business success and optimise farm performance, as both an individual unit and as part of the Livestock Operations Group. This role is challenging because it combines a people leadership function with the requirement to focus on the delivery of operational and financial performance goals to meet all expectations of the consolidated national business and strategic plan of the company. LSUs: 35,000 + Value of assets managed: $30million-$85million Direct reports: 6-20+ Financial delegations: As per policy

The key relationships you will have within Pāmu as a Farm Business Manager will be with internal and external stakeholders, from suppliers to farm staff to the CEO.

What You’ll

Achieve Provide people, financial and business leadership, sense and direction to achieve

the aims of the Farm Business plan as an integrated system.

Drive the Pāmu vision and culture on farm, acting as a role model of organisational values, behaviours, corporate and farming best practices

Develop the long term and annual business plan and budget as well as risk management strategies (including crisis management, drought mitigation plans etc) for the farm business and drive the implementation of these on farm.

Ensure the successful planning, budgeting and implementation of Land and Environment Plans and other environmental management and rejuvenation initiatives as required.

Utilise Pāmu’s financial and farm management systems effectively.

Take leadership and drive Pāmu standards and policies for e.g. health and safety, product quality, animal welfare, financial and asset management.

What You’ve

Got A relevant agriculture/agribusiness tertiary qualification, or equivalent

combination of qualifications and relevant industry experience

An in-depth knowledge of New Zealand livestock farming systems and the agricultural industry

In-depth knowledge of agriculture sciences, animal science and production

A track record of success in delivering sustainable business, capability, financial and reputational results

Proven ability in agribusiness in keeping with the size and complexity of this position.

Ability to think strategically, cope with business complexity and drive systems thinking across the farm

Well-developed understanding of commercial realities and business acumen, including exposure to and participation in financial, commercial and planning decisions

Highly developed people management and leadership skills

Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation and consent requirements pertaining to farming operations (e.g. product quality, occupational health and safety, animal welfare, environmental)

Demonstrate a degree of computer literacy with a practical understanding of the use and application of farm-related software programs

Relationship management skills with the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
