It is not because there are not manufactming facilities. Upon every hand are large forests of timber suited to manufacturing purposes . Already we have furniture, carriage and wag0n shops, bt1t not upon the scale that should exist. Abundance of walnut and ash for all grades of furniture can easily be ~btai•ed and manufactured here ; and with Cincinnati, Louisville, Indian-apolis, St. L ouis, and Chicago a~ distributing pointll, will com-1Dand a ready market thronghout tke west. The same holds true in regard to othetr branches. Competition in railway freights sect1re,~ cheap transportation. and wood and water are iia abunda nce.
