Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce Newsletter

I’m happy to report we are 191 members strong! Membership is up 5% from this same time period last year due in large part to the efforts of our terrific membership committee. Thank

you to Heather Anderson (Bethpage Federal Credit Union), Joseph Leone (Safeguard by Bradley Marketing Group), Chris Dudley (People's United Bank), John Jessup (Rita's Italian Ices) and Dr. Chris Wider (Priestley Chiropractic) for working to help our chamber grow.

One benefit of membership in the Chamber is the opportunity to meet and get to know other people and local businesses. We don’t schedule luncheon meetings during July and August but our very popular After Hours events will continue throughout summer (see page 2 for details). Thank you to Rose Larsen for organizing these meet-ups. We’re also working on another joint chamber event for the fall. You will be notified by email as soon as the plans

are complete.

Congratulations to Farmingdale Public Library Director, Debbie Podolski, 2016 LDA Library Award Recipient! Debbie Podolski, Director of the Farmingdale Public Library, was the re-cipient of this year’s LDA Library Award, which was given at the 2016 Long Island Library Conference. This award was given in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions to Long Island Libraries. Debbie is Past President of the chamber and currently serves as a cham-ber director. The Nutty Irishman It's not quite American Idol, but if you love music and the whole "reality show" gen-re, you won't want to miss this exciting weekly event. It's the first of it's kind, right here on Long Island, and you can see the whole show live, in-person! Come on down and be part of the event and voting! Build the Band is an exciting reality show putting together the next, top Cover Band. Auditions and contests are held every Wednesday night at The Nutty Irish-man, in Farmingdale. Those who qualify and become selected, will be given the chance to be signed by Omnipop Talent Group. We are looking for all band members, including: Drums, Keyboards, Lead Vocals, Male & Female, Guitars, and Bass Guitars. Contestants will have the opportunity to showcase themselves on stage with a live band. Crowd reaction/participation is important, as well as votes, and judges(coaches). In addition to the live show hosted at the Nutty Irish-man, the event is broadcast live to our Facebook and YouTube channels. We are building the band one musician at a time, from scratch. Musicians are giv-en the opportunity to play on some of the best stages, and clubs in the area. This is for a young new cover band. Top 40, and all types of genres. Interested?
