  • FARRAGUT HIGH SCHOOL 9TH GRADE REGISTRATION

TUTORIAL/FAQS STEP 1: Login to Aspen. Make sure you are logging into your student account. Registration cannot be completed on Parent Portal.

STEP 2: Click on the My Info tab.

  • STEP 3: Click on Requests on the left sidebar.

STEP 4: 1. Make sure you are in Entry Mode. You must be in Entry Mode in order to

make course selections. 2. If your student would like to take a math course both semesters of their

freshman year, they must follow the Request to double up in Math link in order to fill out the appropriate Google Form. Aspen will not allow them to select two math courses, and their counselor will have to manually add their other math class.

  • STEP 5: 1. For Math, English, Science, and Social Studies, students will need to hit

the Select button to the left of the subject area. Their middle school teachers have made recommendations for their 9th grade classes. That recommendation cannot be changed in Aspen (How to change recommendation at bottom of document). Students simply select OK in the pop-up window, and the recommendation populates.

    2. Students will need to check three elective courses before clicking OK in the Elective Courses pop-up window.

    3. Lifetime Wellness is a graduation requirement that is taken during 9th Grade. Students will not select this course, but it will be added to their requests automatically after the registration window closes.

  • STEP 6: 1. Students need to select three alternate courses as backup options in case

their primary elective choices are not available. These should not be the same as the elective courses they input as their primary requests. Choosing the same electives in primary and alternate requests does not increase the likelihood of receiving a seat in the desired class.

    2. Anything that could not be communicated in their requests should be communicated in Notes for counselor. Examples are overriding a teacher recommendation via an Academic Release Form or wanting to double up in math (include which class).

    3. Students need to post their requests prior to 3:30pm on March 13, 2020. Posted requests can be revised and reposted up until that time, but any students who have not posted by that time will not have a completed schedule request, and it may affect their 9th grade schedule.

RECOMMENDATION OVERRIDES If you disagree with the teacher recommendation for a core course, you must complete an Academic Release Form, which needs to be returned to Mrs. Cormack by Friday, March 13th. That form is available in the Counseling Office.
