Welcome to Brand Innovators Fashion Week!

From the catwalk to the shopping cart, digital media and the Internet are transforming the fashion, beauty, and luxury goods industries at warp speed.

Digital video, social media, content marketing, mobile apps, Big Data, and sophisticated E-Commerce platforms, are all impacting how leading brands are building buzz and awareness for their latest collections and products, engaging with their consumers in more personal ways than ever, and selling billions of dollars worth of goods online. While they may have been late to the party, lifestyle brands are now embracing the visual, collaborative, and viral tools that digital media provides them with, to identify and interact more closely with their consumers, generate positive word of mouth, and launch the next new designer label.

Brand Innovators Fashion Week will provide brand marketers with firsthand success stories about how leading brand marketers are leveraging digital media and the Internet to grow their businesses. Phillip Bloch began his foray into fashion as a successful model. He lived in Europe for 8 years, working for iconic designers Gaultier, Galliano, Saint Laurent and Rei Kawakubo, to name a few. He gleaned as a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and as a fashion editor and quickly became a favored stylist of hollywood stars (which led to acting, writing and commentating). Phillip is credited with bringing glamour back to Hollywood. He has dressed an unprecedented amount of celebrities for the various award ceremonies and photoshoots, including Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, Salma Hayek, Jim Carrey and Beyonce. In 2013 and 2014 the NFL selected Phillip as Creative Style Director for its Women’s Apparel Division and host of their Style Lounges. Brands Phillip has worked with over the years include GM, Maybelline, Vogue, eBay, Gillette, Nivea, Hugo Boss, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Sears, Hanes and as a designer for Hush Puppies.

Charlie Cole has run the gauntlet in the digital space. He helped IPO a digital real estate company in 2004, went on to grow an online advertising agency to over $200 million in online revenue and took an established fashion brand’s e-commerce initiative to unprecedented levels of success. He was later recruited by a TPG Capital-owned company to create a direct-to-consumer channel, something they had never done in 75 years of business. This leadership team ultimately drove the company to the highest multiple ever paid for a company in the vitamin, mineral and supplement space. Launched in late 2013 in partnership with creative directors Vanessa Trania and Morgan Wendelborn, The Line seeks to provide consumers with the quintessential items of everyday life, encompassing the home, fashion and beauty space.

Jan-Patrick Schmitz is the former President and CEO of Montblanc North America and member of the group’s global Executive Committee. He has been instrumental in positioning and transforming Montblanc into the 21st century and elevating it from a household name, known for its dominance in the world of fine writing instruments, to a fully diversified luxury brand. During his tenure, the company verticalized from a wholesale-centric brand to a modern manufacturer and retailer with over 360 stores around the world. Adam created Eve, but Nancy Bacich created Eve Kitten. Nancy, who is also the designer of an eponymous handbag and jewelry collection, started her career in lingerie design. After graduating from Parsons School of Design on the Anne Klein Scholarship she dreamt up lingerie designs for Maidenform and Natori and the licensed collections of Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta and European designers Zandra Rhodes and Karl Lagerfeld. At Maidenform she re-created the company’s original designs of the 1920’s for the archives of The Smithsonian Museum.

Meg Burich is Director of Marketing at adidas Wearable Sports Electronics. Following a career in textiles and apparel at DuPont, she joined wearable tech start-up, Textronics Inc, and served as Marketing Director. She was instrumental in pioneering the market for electro-textiles by leading the launch of the first wearable sensor garments for fitness and health. In late 2008 she joined the adidas Group with the acquisition of Textronics. Most recently she lead the user experience design of adidas wearable tech offering for elite athletes. Her passion lies in understanding consumers and interpreting their needs to create value adding products and services.

Denise Lee’s “Aha!” moment came in early 2012 when she was training for her first triathlon and, even for the expert shopper that she is, could not find an activewear brand that offered the effortless cool style of the contemporary designers she loved. In November of that year, she left her job at a retail brand incubator in New York to build Alala into the activewear brand she had been searching for, and hasn’t looked back. Denise hails from the sunny island of Singapore, received a double degree from Northwestern University and holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.

Marissa Kraxberger’s diverse career in design, art direction and brand development for high-profile fashion and lifestyle firms led to her being named in September Vice President, Creative, for Ivanka Trump. Marissa’s career started with the fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg as the brand’s in-house Graphic Designer. In 2008 she explored agency life as a Senior Designer at Electric Artists, with projects from conceptual initiatives to games and website development. She went on to become Web Art Director for Kate Spade and in 2012 Vice President of Creative for Oscar de la Renta.
