Now that you have your new long hair, it will take some getting used to! Here's some advice for what to expect after you get your new hair extensions installed.
What To Expect
While getting hair extensions can be a wonderful thing, there are a few warning signs you should look for after your installation. These could be signs of how your own hair is reacting to the extensions. It can also depends on how properly they were installed. A bad installation could result in negative things. For example, if your edges are feeling tight, like it's pulling at your face, the extensions could have been braided in too tightly. Tight edges, in may cases, is a good thing though as this will prolong how long you can wear your extensions.
You may also experience pressure along the crown of your head. This is normal is you've never worn extensions before. The weight of the extensions may feel new and curious to you. If it becomes too uncomfortable the first day or two, try taking a small pain reliever. Anything after two or three days is unusual so consult with your beautician.
As you wear your hair extensions, over time you may also experience an itchy scalp. Just do you best to wash your hair with clarifying shampoo and a penetrating conditioner. You can also schedule an appointment with you hair salon for a professional cleansing and blow out with you hair extensions.
There are some positives expectations after you get your hair extensions installed by your hair stylist. Now, you'll have bouncy, healthy looking weave hair that is just the way you want it. H2O Is Your New Best Friend
We all know this yet we still ignore it: Drink lots of water! It doesn't matter how young or fit you are (or not), you must constantly stay hydrated. At these high levels of humidity, our bodies expel massive amounts of sweat that don't evaporate as quickly as it would during drier heat. Be creative and don't be afraid to pull out an old favorite. Personally, I like eating ice cubes but don't tell my roommate where all the ice is going.
Protect from the Sun
Pull out the sun hats and baseball caps to protect your face from the sun rays. If you're outside for longer than an hour, make sure to reapply your sunscreen frequently. We're sweating, remember. Now is not the time to run a marathon or try that new outdoor workout your bestie has been raving about. Keep extraneous activities indoors where it's air conditioned and there's plenty of water. If you're outside, keep movement to only what is necessary. Know your limitations and listen to your body when you get tired. The last thing you want to do is embarrass yourself and pass out from heat exhaustion.
Don't Drink My Blood!
Bring insect replant to protect against mosquitoes and other pesky insects! If you have small children with you, consider covering their stroller in mosquito netting. If you're one of those people who always gets bitten (aka me), try layering repellents to increase your protection. Avoid areas with standing water as this is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Also check for ticks after any outdoor excursions.
