History of Muncie 2nd Ward
(Brief History of the Church in the Muncie Area, Given at Ward Conference, 20Apr1997): In
1936, one of the missionaries serving here was Bethea Zollinger. George Zale, who was a member in
the area fell in love and later married. He is now our Stake Patriarch.
The branch continued to grow in 1939, the average attendance was 47.
The saints had endured many hardships, heartaches, and sorrows. They had also been suffering
persecution as they had been from much of the community. Some of the members walked many miles
to attend meetings. Not only did they do this once, but twice a day in inclement weather many times.

Newsletter
The Lord has prepared the means for us to share the gospel in a multitude of ways, and He will assist us in our labors if we will act in faith to fulfill His work.” President Thomson S. Monson As has been quoted many times, the Prophet Joseph Smith declared that “after all that has been said, the greatest and most importing duty is to preach the Gospel”
Become engaged in doing what you can in sharing the great message of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We all have the power every day to spread the gospel to our friends, neighbors, and most important to our significant other.
As we look ahead and believe, we need this same teamwork in hastening the work of salvation as we invite others to come unto Christ. In our individual capacities, we need to follow the counsel of President Dieter F. Uchtdorf to “stand close together and lift where we stand.”
Start teaching the gospel by setting goals and deadlines to guide your work. Just remember “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Thank you for all you do, keep the faith and grow in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
