The love even transcends to the fact he loves his father for who he is. It’s dearer to my heart than other poems. It can reach inside of me to pull out emotions. Poetry Analysis

Even If You Weren’t My Father by Camillo Sbarbaro nestled itself into my heart. It’s about a

child who loves his father dearly. The love even transcends to the fact he loves his father for who

he is. It’s dearer to my heart than other poems. It can reach inside of me to pull out emotions.

Right now, I haven’t seen my mother and father in five months. I miss them more and more

every day. This poem speaks the truth that is in my heart. I love my parents, I love my dad. Even

if he wasn’t my dad, I would still love him. He has a cheerful disposition and humorous outlook

on life. I can always count on him to fill up the silence or simply tell me what’s on his mind. My

dad has always been attentive to my moods and magically knows when I run out of sweets. It’s a

wonderful surprise to look in the pantry to find my favorite snack, waiting for me. He cares so

much for me and my brother. I’m sure I will never know all that he has sacrificed for me.

Sbarbaro brought out a deep feeling of homesickness. The wording of the poem and how

straightforward it is tugs at my heart. The speaker rights of memories but instead I see my

childhood flashing by. Images of walking through town or calling shotgun, having my dad tell

me that I’m me and that he’s proud of who I am; all those images fill my heart.

Sbarbaro did an amazing job. He was able to put emotion into the poem and pull the reader

under. Sbarbaro had a good point, there are some that would still love their fathers for who they

are. Even if a man isn’t biologically your father, there is always a deep bond that makes it so.
