Spring is here and we are in September! Time truly does pass you by at a rate of knots sometimes and with all the opportunities that we have enjoyed these past few weeks, it is not surprising that we feel like time has flown. Fortunately, Mr Fletcher’s anticipated return to school is still on track for next week. It has been a great privilege for me to be able to fill the role of relieving principal as it offers experience and an insight into what it takes to run a larger school. I take my hat off to Mr Fletcher for what he does every day as it takes a lot of mental energy, understanding, responsibility and patience to do his job. Lorin Nicholson We had a great day last week with Tregeagle P.S as the much anticipated guest speaker enthralled us all with his inspirational story and wisdom. Everybody involved in the day walked away with something. Maybe it was a greater appreciation for what they have or perhaps it was a greater understanding of what some people have to overcome to access things that we take for granted. A great example of this was an activity Lorin organised which had students (and some staff) wearing ‘limited vision’ glasses and trying to get around. It helped to give students an idea of what Lorin’s vision is like and an insight into one of the challenges he faces. Bookpacks $40 per student Voluntary Contributions $20 per student or $40 per family. Please also ensure that your child has the items indicated on the class requirments list. Please write order (with name and class) on a brown paper bag, enclose $5 and put it in the box in the foyer at school. All orders must be in by 10 am Thursday morning.

Thanks to Natalie & Amanda for being our stars this week!

I know that all of us enjoyed combining with the Tregeagle team and it was great to see students from both schools mingle during activities throughout the day. Thank you to Mrs Fletcher and the staff from Tregeagle for coming out and to the students of both schools for their participation and beautiful behaviour. A huge thanks to the staff who organised the day! We look forward to the next time we combine again.

Touch FootballOur touch boys had a great day yesterday playing a gala day organised by NSW Touch. The boys played five games, all of which were hard and fast. They improved throughout the day, learning lots of new tactics, encouraging each other and, most importantly, making new friends and playing with enthusiasm. Thanks to Esther for transport and support.

Public Speaking 2019

A big congratulations to our stage winners in the Woodburn Public School Public Speaking competi-tion.

Stage 2: Jasper Rose and Ilah GardinerStage 3: Isabelle Hayes and Bella Algie

These excellent elocutionists will now compete against winning contestants from other schools in the Mid-Richmond region next Wednesday 11 Sep-tember.

A hearty round of applause to the finalists from both stages: Koen Brown, Leyland Humphries & Rocky Lord (S2), and Hayden Grove, Toby Hancock and Amelia Staader (S3). You were all phenomenal!

Well done to all students who took the time to write, practise, refine and present their speeches. It’s not easy speaking in front of a crowd, but it was great to see students overcome their fears and speak with growing confidence.

Spelling Bee 2019

On Friday 6 September our spell-ing champions will battle it out against super spellers from a host of other schools at Ballina Public School. Best of luck to the follow-ing students at the 2019 Regional Spelling Bee Finals:

Stage Two: Jasper Rose and Rocky LordStage Three: Bella Algie and Harry Healey

May the spell be with you.
