    Part 2 - THE LONG TURN

    (1 min. each + 20 seconds = 3 minutes)

    Each candidate speaks for 1 minute about 2

    photographs. The other candidate should not speak during this

    time, but will be asked a question at the end, so it

    is important to listen to your partner. You will need to use language of comparison,

    description and opinion.

    Listen carefully to the question and read theprompt

    You should point out similarities and differences

    Then answer the question You are NOT expected to give detailed

    descriptions - focus on comparing and reacting toor giving your opinion on what you see.

    Use linking language to connect your ideas. If you don't know the word for something, try to

    paraphrase or describe it.

    Tips for Part 3

    Turn-taking is important - do not dominate theconversation

    Listen and respond to your partner

    You are NOT in competition with each other - tryto keep the discussion going

    At the start, take the pictures one at a time, sothat you don't end up speaking for too long andblocking your partner

    BUT make sure you address both parts of the taskand finish by coming to a decision
