years.

Average wages in the CR rose by 2.3% in the Q4 2014 compared with 2013 to total CZK 27,200.

24 Regular direct flights between Prague and Beijing may be launched as of October 1, Ma Keqing, the

Chinese Ambassador to the CR, said at a meeting with PM Sobotka.

CzechInvest mediated 147 domestic and foreign investments worth CZK 87bn in the CR in 2014,

almost twice as much as in 2013, and the projects are expected to create 16,700 jobs.

25 Car production increased by 5.8% y-o-y in January and February, according to data released by the

Automotive Industry Association. Growth was 7.5% in January but slowed in February. TPCA in

Kolín recorded by far the biggest increase in production, rolling out around 1/3 more cars than in the

same period in 2014.

31 Economy grew by 1.4% y-o-y in Q4 2014, which is a 0.1% worsening against the earlier estimate

from the end of February. The statisticians confirmed last year´s 2% GDP growth, and a 0.4% q-o-q

GDP expansion in the Q4 2014 remained unchanged as well.

Travel Service has finalised a purchase of 34% of CSA within an option from Korean Air Lines and

has become its second largest shareholder.

Apr 1 The state budget surplus more than halved to CZK 19.9bn in January to March compared with the

Q1 2014. The lower figure was the result of both lower revenues and higher spending.

8 The trial run of Prague’s Blanka tunnel could be launched on September 15, according to the

spokesman for ČKD Praha DIZ, company which supplied the cables destroyed during flooding last

year. It was originally estimated that their replacement might take several months and cost an

additional one billion crowns, but now it seems their replacement will be less extensive.

What Behaviour Is Morally Acceptable?2,3

In March 2015 the Public Opinion Research Centre in its survey dealt with the acceptability of certain

ways of behaviour in Czech society.

Czechs consider living on welfare benefits and not seeking a job less acceptable than killing a thief,

smoking marijuana or being involved in corruption, according to a CVVM institute's poll released

today.

The poll showed that 77 percent of people considered it immoral to live on welfare without trying to

find a job, and only 8 percent did not mind it. The only thing which they condemned even more was

drunken driving: 83 percent labelled it morally unacceptable, while 8 percent did not condemn it.

As far as corruption is concerned, accepting a bribe (69 percent were strongly against it) is seen as

worse than giving a bribe (58 percent). Fifty-nine percent were strongly against smoking marijuana or

hashish and 41 percent against killing a burglar or robber in defence of one's property. Tax evasion is

not considered a serious problem by 20 percent, 19 percent do not strongly mind using public

transport without a valid ticket and 21 percent do not mind buying stolen items.

When asked about marital infidelity, people condemned unfaithful wives (56 percent) slightly more

often than unfaithful husbands (54 percent). Forty-five percent said they do not consider watching

porn morally unacceptable. Czechs seem very tolerant of a person getting drunk because being happy

or sad. The least morally unacceptable behaviours is kissing in the street: 14 percent said they were

against public kissing.
