Lost Production Time
3-D Animation Class has had to use 5 computers at one time in order to complete one multitasking project.
It has taken up an entire class period to complete just one project.
The computer performance capabilities are minimal in comparison with the latest upgrades.

How Did We Get Here?Miniaturization
ENIAC, the first computer, weighed 30 tons, occupied 1800 square feet and had 19,000 vacuum tubes
The first silicon microprocessor (1971) put all of ENIAC's power on a single 1/62 x 1/82 computer chip, and even more powerful chips are embedded in today's portable devices.

Today’s Situation • Physics research in magnetic materials, thin films
and semiconductors has led to small, affordable computers.
• The U.S. computer industry employs more than 1 million people and has revenues of more than $100 billion each year.
• U.S. companies sell 8.2 million PCs each year. 32% of American homes have a computer.
• Silicon microprocessor performance is 25,000
times better than it was 25 years ago. • Computer upgrades are occurring more
frequently to keep up with the latest innovative software applications

Recommendations It is recommended to purchase new
computers with the latest innovated hardware.
1. Due to the high priced expense of upgrading costs
2. Inclusion of the latest software in new 2004 computers.
It is recommended to purchase the computer with the new AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 processor to solve the problem of multitask assignment loss in production time.
Summary of results if things go as proposed This will enable multitask assignments to
be done on one computer eliminating time loss from using old computers and allowing more time for multitask assignments in the multimedia lab.
