Dear St. James Cathedral Family,
The Solemnity of St. James is celebrated on July 25th. Because
St. James is the patron of our Cathedral parish, we are able
to transfer the feast to the nearest Sunday. This weekend,
with grateful hearts, we remember our patron St. James at
all of our Masses. St. James was one of the sons of Zebedee.
His younger brother John was also one of the twelve disciples,
chosen by Jesus. Peter, Andrew, John, and James were the
four disciples that had the most intimate and close relationship
with the Son of God. They were that first four disciples of
Jesus who left their nets as fisherman, becoming Fishers of
Men. As the Gospel was being spread throughout Galilean
territory, St. James was a close eye witness. He witnessed
powerful miracles taking place throughout the three years
he journeyed with Jesus. The greatest miracle witnessed
by St. James and his brothers disciples, was encountering a
resurrected Jesus from the dead. St. James was martyred
between the years 41-44. St. James suffered persecution
and was decapitated, because he continued to spread the
Good News of Jesus Christ.
St. James is an inspiration to all of us because we have also
been called by Christ to share the Gospel message without
fear. Our parish continues to welcome new families that
have decided to be members of our community because
they have encountered Christ, alive and present, among us.
I thank God for our parishioners who continue to grow in
their faith, by serving and supporting our efforts of evan-
gelization. If you have not yet done so, and feel grateful to
God for leading you to St. James Cathedral, I ask that you
prayerfully consider the opportunity of getting involved in
our parish. Visit our website and glance through the variety
of ministries available. You will discover added blessings
that will continue to enrich your lives. St. James, patron of
our parish, pray for us!
In Christ,
Very Reverend Miguel A. González
agradecidos, recordamos a nuestro patrón, Santiago Apóstol,
nosotros!
En Cristo,
Reverendísimo Miguel A. González

Question for Children: How do you share with others what you have? Question for Youth: Generosity is key to today’s Gospel. What do you have that you should be sharing with others? Think of your possessions, your talents, and your time. How can you use these for the good of others? Question for Adults: In what ways do you generously provide for the needs of others who have little or nothing?
