Acts 10:34–38 God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power.

Matthew 3:13–17 The Spirit of God descends like a dove.

The Son of God is gradually revealed to the world. Isaiah speaks of the servant of the Lord who brings justice and compassion. Peter preaches to a group of Gentiles, telling them that God was with Jesus as he brought hope and healing to all people. Finally, we hear the Father’s voice from the heavens at Jesus’ baptism: ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’ May we see him revealed today in the Word, in the Eucharist and in each other.

CATHEDRAL NEWS

End of Christmastide: Many thanks to all who helped to prepare the Cathedral and

our liturgies for Christmas. Also thanks for all the many kind gifts and good wishes.

The Ordinary Time of the year begins tomorrow, when our normal programme

resumes (see front page for details). The season of Ordinary Time is devoted to the

unfolding of the mystery of Christ in all its aspects.

The Feast of Saint Kentigern (Mungo) will be celebrated tomorrow, Monday 13th

January in all parishes of the Archdiocese of Glasgow. All Masses on Monday will

honour Saint Mungo. Full details of the programme for St Mungo Festival 2020 are

in the January edition of Flourish (available in the bookstall) and at

mediaevalglasgow.org/events.

The Charismatic Prayer Group resume their weekly meetings in the Cathedral on

Wednesday 15th January from 6—7pm. All welcome.

‘St Margaret’s Adoption Society’ Annual Crib Appeal: Thank you for the crib

donations received so far. The box will remain until next weekend.

There will be an appeal by ‘Aid to the Church in Need’ (ACN) in the Cathedral at all

Sunday Masses on 25th and 26th January.

Surplus clothes, books? Parishioner John McVey (Tel: 0141 429 2015, Mob: 07799

735893) is available to collect. Proceeds are helping various charities.

Helping in the Liturgy: we are always looking for people willing to assist at Mass as

readers, servers, passkeepers on Sundays or weekdays. Contact the Cathedral

Office, speak to one of the priests or approach one of our current ministers for

AGAP NOTICES (ARCHDIOCESE OF GLASGOW ARTS PROJECT)

AGAP is seeking volunteers to assist with various roles during Lentfest 2020. These

include invigilators for the art exhibition, ticket handlers, drivers, stage crew and

Glasgow Churches Together: The annual St Mungo Ecumenical Service will take

place in Glasgow Cathedral, Cathedral Square, Castle Street, G4 0QZ today, 12th

Parish Youth Ministry Leaders’ Meeting: If you are involved in youth ministry in

your parish, there will be a Cheese & Wine Evening on Tuesday 14th January, 7—

9pm in the Archdiocesan Offices, 196 Clyde Street, Glasgow, G1 4JY. This will be a

great opportunity to get to know other leaders, share ideas, pray together and, of

Pro-Life Mass: This month’s Pro-Life Mass will take place on Wednesday 15th

January in Blessed John Duns Scotus, 270 Ballater St, Gorbals G5 0YT. There will be

Adoration at 6pm, followed by Rosary at 7pm and Mass at 7.30pm. All welcome.

The celebrant will be Fr. Joseph McAuley.
