There is going to be a brief dedication and thank you ceremony for all of the spon-

sors who have contributed to the clubs recent purchases of boats and sails. We

would love to see as many club members attend as possible. These sponsors have

made a huge difference within the club with what they have done so it would be

great to show them that we ap- preciate their contributions to the sport.

Oh yeah and the bar will be open afterwards.

Easter Regatta

10, 11, & 12 April 2009

Southland Championships

Two regattas for $15, a canny wee deal for a McKenzie. The Southland Champs

was held in Queenstown with the SBS regatta. Eighteen sailors represented Mara-

kura, many of front of the fleets and some of us at the back. It was great to see the

“Opti Sail” kids staying on to compete in the regatta.

Saturday saw everyone but the green fleet out in the open lake for one race in

great wind conditions. The bouys blew away and the committee boat could not hold

position with only 1 motor running, so the rest of the regatta was held in the

Frankton arm.

Sunday mornings very light breeze quickly built up to a heavy blow giving the

Trailer Yachts some exciting sailing. Iain was kept busy in the RIB towing in lots of

boats

.

The club cup went to Wakatipu.

Congratulations to all those who

gained placing especially Cody who

now has his name on the P trophy

twice. Thanks to Doug, Annabel,

Merv, Phil and the team for orga-

nizing the regatta.

Te Anau Downs Classic

Yes it has rolled around to that time again where the Downs race is back. This is an exciting race and of course a great social event as well. If you are going to be enter-ing in the race and require some extra crew speak up early or if you are interested in being crew on a boat let Gordon Ashton know and he will see if there are any spots on a yacht somewhere.
