Celebrating 30 years of TMP!Now in our 30th Season, Tosco Music Parties were born from intmate living room jam sessions in the 1980’s. Toso Music is in our 20th year as a nonprofit organization helping people of all ages in Charlotte explore, develop, and share their passion for music in all its forms.

While we’ve expanded to larger venues over the years and added new outreach programs like our open mic, youth music scholarships and senior sing along parties, our core value has never changed — it’s still all about the music!

At each Tosco Music Party, nationally recognized acts share the stage with undiscovered artists and our audience members enthusiastically sing along. We strive to keep ticket prices low and offer discounts and ticket scholarships so that the music parties remain accessible to everyone.

All of the performers are volunteering their talent tonight. Please support them by buying their CDs, hiring them for your own special event, and going to their shows.

Please connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter. Visit ToscoMusic.org to join our mailing list, become a Tosco Music member, volunteer, or give feedback.

We hope you’ll join us in our effort to share the joy of live music and enrich Charlotte’s community for years to come!

MERCURY CARTErThis native Charlottean began his creative ventures in the fashion world, and then shifted to music as a new endeavor to help him deal with chronic depression and heal from personal hardships. He poured all of his feelings into his debut project, Mercury (2015), produced on his iPad with all of his own vocals, instrumentation and songwriting. With exceptional pitch, a 3.5 octave range, and unique phrasing, he exercises his instrument to be able to display the vocal agility heard in the golden ages of jazz, opera and soul. CHATHAM RABBITSWith palpable chemistry and warmth, Sarah Osborne McCombie (vocals, banjo) and Austin McCombie (vocals, guitar, fiddle) fill each space they en-ter with brightness and sincerity. This duo hails from Bynum, NC, just like the original Chatham Rabbits string band of the early 20th century. They abandoned corporate careers to take Chatham Rabbits full-time and now travel the country sharing the music they love. Their 2019 album All I Want From You (Robust Records) has been highly praised. chathamrabbits.com

THE DON JUANSAs a duo, Don Henry and Jon Vezner wrote Kathy Mattea’s classic hit “Where’ve You Been”, which garnered them Grammy’s for Song Of The Year. Their songs have been recorded by many artists including Janis Ian, Ray Charles, John Mellencamp, and Miranda Lambert. Currently, they’re touring with folk legend Tom Paxton. Their first single and animated video “Snow, Snow, Snow” came out in December 2018 and their debut album The DonJuans Revue was released in 2019. thedonjuans.com

The bells are ringing for me and my galThe birds are singing for me and my galEverybody’s been knowing To a wedding they’re goingAnd for weeks they’ve been sewingEvery Susie and Sal

They’re congregating for me and my galThe parson’s waiting for me and my galAnd sometime I’m gonna build a little home for twoFor three or four or moreIn love land for me and my gal

(Repeat)

When whippoorwills callAnd evening is nighI hurry to my blue heavenA turn to the rightA little white lightWill lead you to my blue heaven

You’ll see a smiling face,A fireplace, a cozy roomA little nest that’s nestled whereThe roses bloom

Just Mollie and meAnd baby makes threeWe’re happy in my blue heaven

(Repeat)

I need love, loveTo ease my mindI need to find, findSomeone to call mineBut mama said

You can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitShe said love don’t come easyIt’s a game of give and takeYou can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitYou got to trust, give it timeNo matter how long it takes

But how many heartachesMust I standBefore I find a loveTo let me live againRight now the only thingThat keeps me hangin’ onWhen I feel my strengthYeah, it’s almost goneI remember mama said

You can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitShe said love don’t come easyIt’s a game of give and takeHow long must I waitHow much more can I takeBefore lonelinessWill cause my heartHeart to break

No I can’t bearTo live my life aloneI grow impatient for a loveTo call my ownBut when I feel that II can’t go onThese precious wordsKeep me hangin’ onI remember mama said

You can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitShe said love don’t come easyIt’s a game of give and takeYou can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitShe said trust, give it timeNo matter how long it takes

No, love, love, don’t come easyBut I keep on waitingAnticipating for that soft voiceTo talk to me at nightFor some tender armsTo hold me tightI keep waitingI keep on waitingBut it ain’t easy, it ain’t easyBut mama said

You can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitShe said love don’t come easyIt’s a game of give and takeYou can’t hurry loveNo, you just have to waitYou got to trust, give it timeNo matter how long it takes

take me home, country roads(J. Denver, W. Danoff, T. Nivert)

Almost heaven, West VirginiaBlue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah RiverLife is old there, older than the treesYounger than the mountains, growin’ like a breeze

Country roads, take me homeTo the place I belongWest Virginia, mountain mommaTake me home, country roads

All my memories gather ’round herMiner’s lady, stranger to blue waterDark and dusty, painted on the skyMisty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me homeTo the place I belongWest Virginia, mountain mommaTake me home, country roads

I hear her voice in the mornin’ hour she calls meThe radio reminds me of my home far awayAnd drivin’ down the road I get a feelin’That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Celebrating our 30th season of Tosco Music Parties in Charlotte!

Did you know that in addition to producing 5 Tosco Music Parties each year, Tosco Music also makes live music experiences more accessible to many through our outreach programs?

In 2018, Tosco Music provided more than 12,000 cultural arts experiences for performers, volunteers and audience members. Half of those were through Tosco Music Parties and the other half were through community outreach activities.

Altogether, Tosco Music provided live music at nearly 100 events and activities at 20 different locations throughout Charlotte and:

• Provided more than 150 paid performance opportunities for 100 musicians; 20 for youth performers • Engaged 27 musicians and volunteers in 31 Senior Singalongs • Presented live music stages at Open Streets 704 & Camp North End • Increased access to the arts by giving TMP tickets to area nonprofits • Awarded scholarships to summer music camps

This impact is currently supported by 165 members and donors who invest in our shared passion for live music and the joy and connection it creates. As a primarily volunteer-powered nonprofit, Tosco Music relies on support from music-lovers like you who value our mission.

Our 30th Anniversary goal is to reach 300 members!

If live music is your passion too, please join tonight and help Tosco Music:

• build community through music with Tosco Music Parties, • expand programs like senior singalongs and FABFEST, and • add operational support for a sustainable long-term future.

Living ROom Society

Thank you!

The Living Room Society is a giving circle of donors whose contributions of $1,000 or more are paving the path forward for Tosco Music Parties and all of our outreach programs.

Established in August 2017, LRS is named in the spirit of the original music parties when Tosco Music began with musicians and friends coming together to play and sing in the warmth of someone’s home. LRS Appreciation Gatherings now bring the donor giving circle together in the same way several times a year.
