Beryl has advised that she wishes to step down from this role at this years Annual Meeting and we are, therefore, seeking a volunteer to follow in Beryl s footsteps. The role entails keeping in contact with our members, maintaining our membership records and annual donations together with advising of forthcoming events. Beryl will be happy to give information to the potential successor. If you have queries please contact our Secretary, Liz Aveston.

FELLOWSHIP TOY PROJECT

In December 2014 we concluded the International Fellowship’s 60th Anniversary Project – The Fellowship

Toy, when we dispatched the fourth shipment of toys to the children in the Refugee Camps in Jordan. This fourth consignment – the largest sent – comprised of 197 boxes containing 5,628 toys weighing 1,629 Kg and occupying a space of 17.36 cu metres. Thus, the total number of toys collected was 17,194 in 519 boxes and a total weight of 4,584 Kg, occupying a volume of 47.65 cu metres.

A magnificent effort and a huge THANK YOU go to all who supported this project.

We appreciated the assistance from our partners UNHCR, Aviation without Borders who were supported by the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) of America in providing funding, GIST for collecting the toys and taking them to TFA Logistics who managed the ship-ping from Heathrow. The challenge for further collection of toys has now been passed to the International Scout Active Support Unit who will be arranging collections of toys locally, utilising the support package of Marketing and Publicity Material available on the websites www.internationalscouts.org.uk or www.toys4simles.org.uk.

Latest News – the fourth consignment of toys were dispatched from Heathrow in December and we have now been advised that CARE agreed to receive the donation of toys on behalf of UNHCR for Azraq Camp. They were received on the 15 January 2015 and stored in the CARE Store 2 in the village. We await photos of the distribution of toys to the children.
