PREPARING FOR WORSHIP

Meditation and Preparation for Worship Hymn No. 701 (sung several times by all) I Corinthians 3:16-17

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

Welcome

ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME Call to Worship Leader: God’s Spirit dwells in us, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 23 for we are God’s temple. We belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. People: Praise the Lord!

*Hymn in Procession No. 321 (omit stanza 4) “The Church’s One Foundation”

Welcome Families to Christ Church!

For those of you with very small children (up to age 3) our Nursery is open and available to you in our lower level. Our caring volunteers are ready and willing to watch over your child while you are in service this morning. You can worship with peace of mind as all parents are given a pager so you can be contacted at a moment’s notice should your child need you. An usher is able to help direct you if you need assistance.

All children are welcome to come forward for our Children’s Message. Following the message, children ages 3 through 7th grade are invited to follow our teachers out for Kids’ Church. At the end of service, children up through 4th grade can be picked up in the lower level, while children in 5th-7th grade can be picked up upstairs in our youth room. An usher is able to help direct you to these locations if you need assistance. Thank you for worshiping with us this morning. I look forward to meeting you and your child.

*Prayer of Adoration (unison) Almighty God, you make the sun rise on the evil and on the good, send rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. Matthew 5:45

Give us grace to follow your example and show kindness toward friend and enemy, that we may live as your children who testify to your all-inclusive love. Amen.

GIVE PRAISE TO GOD

Call to Confession Prayer of Confession (unison)

Holy God, your law shows the way of righteousness, but I forsake your commandments. I have not provided for the poor or aided the disabled. I have not been trustful in my daily business; I have been unjust in my judgment of others. I have sought vengeance against my enemies; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. Leviticus 19:1-2, 9-18 Forgive me my sins and rouse me to sincere repentance. By the power of your Holy Spirit, free me to live as your holy disciple with Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Kyrie (sung by all) Hymn No. 579 “Kyrie eleison” Singing in Greek: Kyrie . . . Christe . . . Kyrie Declaration of Forgiveness Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. People: May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.

Unison: Amen. *Response to the Assurance of Pardon *Hymn No. 581 “Glory Be to the Father”

Children are now invited to walk to the chancel steps for the Message.

Becoming Familiar With Holy Scripture

If you wish to become more familiar with the Bible and the best known stories of

scripture, read Jesus Feeds 5000 and Walks on Water (Mark 4).

The Food & Clothing Ministry could use your help. We are in need of Guideposts & Upper Room daily devotionals. These are used by our prayer partners when they meet with clients on distribution day. We are always in need of men’s clothing—particularly larger men’s sweaters and long sleeve shirts. Please no out-of-season items because our space is limited. Thank you for your support. Blessings—Lorraine Murphy

Being the court composer and cathedral organist in Salzburg left Mozart little leeway for the types of music he was to supply for state functions and cathedral liturgies. He knew his music had to be energetic and lively,

even for “solemn” evening worship, when the traditional five Psalms and Magnificat needed to favor the mood of exuberant praise, rather than of meditative prayer.

The Christ Church choir with orchestra will offer a moderate re-creation of that Vespers event in 1780. We will have prayers, chants, and scripture with the proper interspersion of Mozart’s six delightful expressions of the Psalms of praise and Mary’s Song from Luke. One of the most memo-rable works of classical church music is included in the set: “Laudate Dominum” for chorus and soprano solo, which listeners will recognize with delight, as it is sung by Jean Burnquist.

The Mission Ministry of Christ Church proudly announces the visit of the LIKAY THAI FOLK DRAMA DANCERS

They will be presenting dances and drama based upon stories from scripture after the late service on March 23rd. The presentation will be preceded by a covered dish luncheon where the baked chicken and mac-n-cheese will be provided. This family friendly production is part of the outreach mission of the Christian Communications Institute of Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Its longtime director is Dr. Rob Collins who is married to our mission representative, Dr. Esther Wakeman-Collins. It was organized to tell the Gospel message to those who were unable to read or were uninterested in just the spo-ken word. The CCI troupe has presented the Good News Gospel on many international tours and always looks forward to their visit to Christ Church. The drama will begin about 12:30 for those who may not be attending

the late service or the luncheon. Please invite friends and neighbors who might enjoy this beautiful message.
