Salvation is the end result of true repentance, an act which goes beyond admitting one’s sins and seeking forgiveness. This is incomplete and an assurance of repeating itself time and again. No, repentance is more than sorrow for sin and the harm and injury caused. It is a firm resolve to change what needs changing in terms of attitude, intent, motivation and relational unity. The Bible is full of stories wherein sin is acknowledged and people plead for God’s mercy and rescue and their renewal of faithfulness in the future. When it is that simple, repetition follow. They have not moved to the joy and freedom which breaks our bonds with sin. This joy is the power of love expressed in many ways. Exodus (1st reading) tells the story of God rescuing the people enslaved in Egypt for centuries. They cry for salvation. God chooses Moses, who is hesitant, unsure; he asks God how the people will know God sent him. God says, “when the people ask, what is His name, tell them, I am Who am sent me. This is My name forever!” St. Paul (2nd reading) tells of this great act by God and how it united the people and gave them hope until the weaken, complain and do evil things. The reminder is to all of us to remain focused and sincere because it is easy “to think one is secure because of righteousness” and end up face down in the muck and mire of things! It is thinking righteousness is what God seeks that leads to such falling down. People want the right answer to their questions about sinners and sinfulness and how they are measured by God. Jesus, as usual, pulls the rug out from under their feet. He bluntly tells all of us, sinners, that we are: “don’t compare or measure sins or sinners. “If you do not repent, you will perish!” God desires our salvation and is every ready and gener-ous to save us from our sinfulness. The story of the fidg tree (Gospel) tthat produces nothing shows this. God gives the tree time and help to produce fruit. If it does not use the help and produce the fruit, “then, you can cut the tree down.” God desires to lose no one or nothing. It happens by our free choice.

PRIMA DOMENICA Mass is celebrated in Italian the first Sunday of each month at 9:00 am. A reception is celebrated in the Parish Hall after Mass.

BAPTISMS 2015 Baptisms are scheduled quarterly, Sunday, Apr. 3, July 24, Oct. 23 at 12 (noon). Baptismal class is mandatory. You must first make arrangements with a priest. We meet on Thursdays, Mar. 31, July 21, Oct. 20 at 6 pm.

MARRIAGE A wedding may be scheduled after a consultation with a priest or deacon. Please call the rectory for an appointment. Please notice preparation is eight months to a year.

RECONCILIATION Saturday: 3:30-4:00 pm or by appointment with a Confessor.

2nd Collection for the Churches in Latin America & Central & Eastern Europe Thank you for your generous contributions to the Collection for the Church in Central & Eastern Europe and in Latin America. Your gift is an expression of solidarity with the suffering people of these regions. Through joining in the work of this collection, you are helping to restore the Church and build the future. Servite Father Chris Krymsky, the National Shrine of St. Peregrine Ministry Director in Chicago, is leading a ten day tour to St. Peregrine’s in Italy, October 1st through October 10th, 2016. Information is available at the entrance area of the Church and in the parish office.

The Altar and Rosary Society wishes to thank everyone who attended our 2016 La Festa d’Amore dinner and dance at Lakewood Country Club. It was a special evening, with Russ Canino providing the music and

entertainment. Also, the Altar & Rosary Society extends special thanks to the individuals and businesses

that donated items for both the live and silent auctions. Everyone’s generosity helped ensure the event's success.
