Dear Participant,

Welcome to the Inaugural Washington Women’s Conference hosted by Renaissance Seattle Hotel. This signature annual event offers an opportunity for you to observe, learn, network and hear different perspectives from a diverse mix of executives who have made the climb up the corporate ladder.

The theme for today’s conference is “Women as Game Changers: Orchestrating Business Success Today and in the Future.” You will gather a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise from top professional women speaking on topics pertinent to today’s female leaders, as well as personal and professional challenges they faced while successfully rising to the top in their respective organizations.

We encourage you to take the initiative to meet new colleagues, talk openly about today’s topics and exchange ideas. Welcome to the Inaugural Washington Women’s Conference!

Our goal with today’s session is to strengthen the career development of women by providing an interactive forum that provides inspiration, education and networking opportunities.

On behalf of the Washington Diversity Council, it is my pleasure to be today’s Conference Chair. I encourage you to engage fully in the event and enjoy the insightful speakers and educational workshops.

This is an amazing opportunity to meet new colleagues, contribute to the discussion in the sessions you attend, and exchange ideas. It is also a time to reflect on your own goals and career progression, to gain insights about how others have achieved their professional goals, and leave with new ideas and enthusiasm about how to further your own career development and strengthen your network.

Megan Cleghorn, JD, MBA is the President of Cleghorn Performance Elevation LLC, an elite private–client executive coaching, leadership empowerment and executive communication company. As a coach and consultant, Megan marries her many years of operational and financial expertise with her passion for empowering current and future senior executives with the tools to graduate from Excellent to Superior.

Megan was previously the CEO of Request For Relief LLC, a national organizational–wellness consultancy servicing clients facing high–stress business and workplace challenges, including restructurings and post–M&A integration.

Prior to leading Cleghorn Performance Elevation and RFR, Megan spent more than a decade at the premier global law firm as a corporate restructuring professional, advising companies in distressed situations on operational and financial reorganizations as they underwent transformational change.

In addition, Megan is currently an instructor in, and advisor to The Wharton School of Business MBA Program on topics of Executive Communication and Advanced Persuasion. Megan regularly presents nationally on topics of Transformational Change, Leadership Empowerment, Advancement of Women, Organizational Wellness, and Entrepreneurship. Megan obtained her B.S. and her J.D. at Duquesne University and her M.B.A. at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Linda Beltz is the VP Commercial Aerospace Licensing for Boeing Intellectual Property Licensing Company. Prior to Boeing she was the Director of Technology Partnerships at Weyerhaeuser with a focus on Business Development and Partnering with Non Profit, For Profit and Governmental organizations. Prior to this role, Linda held leadership positions with Weyerhaeuser in Joint Venture Operationalization, Market Development and Business Technology and Technical Services. Before joining Weyerhaeuser Linda held management, production, quality and scientist roles with Mead Corporation and International Paper. Linda has a diverse background including strategy development

at the corporate and business level, Open Innovation and project management.

Linda holds a Ph.D. and B.S. in Pulp and Paper Engineering from Univeristy of Washington. She has also completed the Executive Program at Louisiana State University and Executive Education in Business Strategic Marketing and Finance at Kellogg School of Management.

Linda is a Board Member of the WA State Chapter of the Product Development Management Association, and holds the PDMA New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification.

Linda spends her spare time surfing, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, climbing, home remodeling and creating stone mosaics. Linda is an ACA Level IV Certified Kayak Surf Instructor and enjoys teaching students of all levels how to surf. When not in the water or on the snow, she loves spending time with her husband and two cats.

Marissa AndradaSenior Vice President & Partner Resources for U.S. & AmericasStarbucks Coffee Company

Marissa Andrada is senior vice president, Partner Resources for U.S. & Americas and heads the U.S. & Americas l Partner Resources Organization (PRO), providing dedicated HR leadership to U.S. and Americas Retail Businesses. Marissa joined Starbucks in November 2010 and has served as senior vice president, Global Partner Resources and senior vice president, US Retail at Starbucks.

Marissa has over 20 years of human resources experience and leadership skills to this role. She was formerly the SVP of Human Resources at GameStop Corporation, where she led the global Human Resources function from March 2007 – November 2010. Prior to GameStop, Marissa spent ten

years as the head of Human Resources at start-up and high growth organizations including Xdrive Technologies, ValleyCrest Companies and Red Bull North America. Marissa began her career in various HR generalist and management roles at Unisys Corporation, Pepsi Restaurants International/Pizza Hut and Universal Studios.

Marissa has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. Marissa is a native Southern Californian, enjoys travel and family life in Seattle with her husband and step daughter.

Brenda Bruns, MDSenior Vice President of National Accounts & Clinical ServicesUnitedHealth Group

Brenda Bruns, MD, serves as Senior Vice President, National Accounts, Clinical Services for UnitedHealth Group. In this role, she is the Chief Medical Officer for some of UHC’s largest clients and is part of a team of leaders within OptumHealth and UnitedHealthcare that is developing and implementing an innovative approach for providing coordinated clinical strategy and operations.

With more than two decades of experience encompassing health plans, hospitals, and academic medicine. Dr Bruns most recently served as the Executive Medical Director for the Health Plan Division of Group Health Cooperative, one of the nation’s largest consumer-governed health care

systems. Prior to that, she was the Chief Medical Officer for another regional health plan, a large regional medical center and a multi-specialty group practice.

Dr Bruns completed undergraduate work at Stanford University and received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and a Master’s of Science in Management from Stanford Business School. Bruns is board certified in both emergency medicine and internal medicine. She practiced Emergency Medicine for 12 years, during which time she was on the faculty at Stanford University and at San Francisco General Hospital.

She is currently a member and Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Seattle Opera and spends her spare time shepherding her two children through college and grad school, walking her Golden Retriever, Pico, and trying to catch up on multiple reading lists. Her husband is a recovering rocket scientist who has transitioned to the communications satellite industry.

Julie BrownSenior Vice President & Chief Financial OfficerYMCA of Greater Seattle

Julie L. Brown is SVP / CFO of The YMCA of Greater Seattle. She is responsible for finance, accounting, risk management, and information services. She has over 20 years of experience leading organizations, including Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty and The Motley Fool, in senior financial and operating roles. During her two-year tenure at the Y, she restructured her division to better serve internal and external customers, and oversaw the acquisition of Powerful Schools, a nonprofit organization.

Julie was named the 2015 CFO of the Year by the Puget Sound Business Journal and Most Powerful & Influential Women of Washington by the National Diverisity Council.

Julie holds an MBA in Finance and Investments and a B.A. in Radio / Television from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she was also the point guard and captain of the women’s basketball team.

She is a certified public accountant, certified financial manager, and certified management accountant.

An author of two short stories, she is currently in the final stages of completing her first novel and already busy writing the sequel.

Helene Mawyer is a Vice President of PACCAR Inc with responsibility for Global Quality. Helene joined PACCAR in 1997 and was responsible for the implementation of the Six Sigma quality initiative throughout PACCAR. As Vice President her responsibilities have also included the PACCAR Technical Center, Dynacraft, Dealer Development, and PACCAR Australia.

Prior to joining PACCAR, Helene spent 21 years with General Electric’s Industrial businesses, where she held a variety of executive positions.

Helene is on the Advisory Board for Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Executive Board of Junior Achievement and the University of Washington Supply Chain Transportation and Logistics Advisory Board.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, and her Ph.D. also in mathematics, from the University of Virginia.

Sandra CavanaughChief Executive Officer of U.S.Private Client ServicesRussell Investments

Sandra Cavanaugh is chief executive officer of Russell Investments’ U.S. private client services business. In this role Sandy serves as the senior executive with regard to setting Russell’s strategic direction affecting all intermediary relationships, including the bank, brokerage, insurance and other advisory channels. Sandy serves as a member of Russell’s executive committee, global leadership forum and global risk committee as well as serving as a trustee of the Russell Investment Company mutual fund board. She is also the Executive sponsor for the LGBTA network.

A 30+ year veteran of the financial services industry, Sandy came to Russell in 2010 from SunTrust Bank where she was an executive vice president in their retail channel. Prior to SunTrust, Sandy had built a long track record of success, driving superior financial and market performance in start-up, turnaround, and growth programs, as well as working on mergers and acquisitions and integrating businesses after acquisition for a variety of firms.

From 1997 to 2008, Sandy held senior roles with JPMorgan Chase/Washington Mutual, including senior vice president of national sales for their retail distribution, president of Washington Mutual’s broker dealer and president of Washington Mutual’s funds distributor and shareholder services.

Prior, Sandy was senior vice president and regional sales director for AIM Distributors and held various senior management positions in investments, banking and distribution divisions within several financial institutions from 1994 to 1996.

As a Deputy General Counsel for the Xbox group, Linda Norman manages the team that provides legal and regulatory advice for Xbox, including the games and entertainment titles and the Xbox Live Service. Linda serves on the Senior Leadership teams for Xbox and Microsoft’s Law & Corporate Affairs departments.

Prior to assuming her current role supporting the Xbox team in April, Linda served as the lead lawyer for the Windows Phone Division, during which time she supported the launch of the Windows Phone and played key roles in the alliance with Nokia and Microsoft’s eventual purchase of Nokia’s

phone business. Linda began her career at Microsoft in 1997, where she served for 12 years as a litigator, managing key antitrust, intellectual property, and class action lawsuits and regulatory actions.

Rafat NaqviGlobal Vice President for Enterprise ApplicationsAvanade

Naqvi specializes in exploiting emerging technologies to transform business practices and outcomes from the status quo to the yet unimagined. Her current position of Global Vice President for Enterprise Applications at Avanade demands vision and thought leadership on the evolving role of enterprise information technology. As a veteran technology evangelist, she is a driving force in defining the digital workplace, leading cloud transformation, innovating digital service design, and exploiting enterprise data towards digital disruption. She is a thought leader in social and mobile computing across the enterprise. Naqvi recognizes the impact of change on organizations and is

adept at leading teams through change with courage and compassion. She is an unabashed supporter of women in technology and business leadership.

Naqvi has a broad background in both information technology and consulting. She has led development of collaboration and customer relationship management solutions, as well as mobile applications, for clients across a wide range of industries. Her previous experience includes establishing a global IT transformation roadmap for Fortune-300 manufacturing and financial services firm Paccar, and leading a highly successful combined business/IT strategic planning initiative at Western Wireless. Prior to those accomplishments, she managed a $10 million portfolio across three regions for Novell. Naqvi began her career at Cambridge Technology Partners where she contributed to building an e-commerce consulting practice.

Britt is the Vice President of People and Culture for Apptio, a software-as-a-service leader in technology business management (TBM). She is responsible for leading the Human Resources function, coaching executives and managers to become more effective leaders, and fostering Apptio’s high performing culture.

Prior to joining Apptio, Britt held progressive HR leadership positions at fast-paced technology companies including Avanade, Real Networks, and Microsoft. She has over 15 years of experience leading HR teams in all aspects of the function, across a number of business sectors.

In particular, Britt is passionate about creating an amazing employee experience. She also believes that HR contributes to business growth and performance, by developing talent and showcasing and strengthening a strong organizational culture.

She is actively involved as a speaker and facilitator on a number of leadership development, negotiation, employee engagement and career development topics within Apptio and in the HR leadership community.

Britt holds a BA from the University of Washington and a MBA from University of Colorado.

Britt is an active member of the Board of Directors for the Washington Diversity Council, an organization supporting grassroots educational initiatives and raising the global status of women and girls.

Kristen QuillinVice President of Marketing & CommunicationsColliers International

Kristen Quillin is an international marketing professional who specializes in brand strategy and implementation. Her experience spans three continents and she has led several corporate rebranding campaigns and has a strong focus on communications.

She currently leads the U.S. marketing team for Colliers International, a commercial real estate services firm, as Vice President, Marketing and Communications. Overseeing the marketing efforts of 140 offices across the U.S., she is an integral member of the executive leadership team and helps set the strategy for the company.

An active member of her community, Kristen currently sits on the board of Global Visionaries, a Seattle non-profit focused on empowering young people to become socially and environmentally conscious global leaders.

Kristen holds a graduate certificate in marketing from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a BA in English with a Business Emphasis from Washington State University. She lives in Seattle with her husband and son.

Jen ReyesVice President of National Business DevelopmentFidelity National Title

Seattle native, Jen Reyes serves as Vice President, National Business Development at Fidelity National Title, where she maintains and enhances a strong local and national book of business. Her diverse clientele includes developers, principals, brokers, attorneys, lenders and other commercial real estate professionals.

Jen’s success comes from her patience, persistence, and professionalism when developing relationships with her clients. Through consistent communication, she ensures that each client’s distinct needs are handled promptly and efficiently. Jen participates in many professional and non-profit organizations.

She is a current member of commercial real estate associations such as NAIOP, ICSC, ULI, Pacific Real Estate Institute and CREW (where she served on the Board from 2012-2014 & was President in 2013).

Since 2006, Jen has been involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound, and now serves on its Ambassador Board. She has recently joined the Board of SCIDpda (Seattle International District Preservation and Development Agency). She’s a member of the UW Alumni Association and is a proud Husky. 

Maria RenzVice President & Technical Advisor to the CEOAmazon

Maria Renz is a vice president at Amazon and currently serves as technical advisor to CEO Jeff Bezos. Maria was previously CEO of Quidsi – an Amazon.com subsidiary with ten unique shopping sites, including Diapers.com, Soap.com and Wag.com. 

Before joining Quidsi, Maria served in various leadership positions at Amazon, including Vice President of Physical Media & Canada, where she led the company’s physical media categories and oversaw Amazon’s retail business in Canada. Prior to that, Maria led Amazon’s consumables group and launched popular customer categories such as Beauty, Health & Personal Care and Grocery. In

2011, Maria launched MYHABIT.com, an online private sale fashion site from Amazon, and served as President of MYHABIT and Vice President of Jewelry & Watches, Shoes and Endless.com.

Prior to joining Amazon, Maria worked in brand management at Kraft Foods, Inc. Before joining Kraft, she worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. and Nelson & Associates. 

Maria holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. in Interior Design from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She has spoken about leadership to students and alumni at the Harvard Business School, the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Columbia University Business School, and is currently a member of the Vanderbilt University Business School Alumni Board. 

A native of New Jersey, she now lives in Seattle with her husband and two children.

Pallavi Wahi is the Administrative Partner of K&L Gates’ Seattle office where she practices complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on corporate and intellectual property litigation. She is experienced in all aspects of large case litigation, including discovery, motion practice and trial practice. She has argued before various tribunals and courts in hearings and at trial with success. Ms. Wahi regularly represents a number of clients in high volume and high stakes litigation involving multiple lawsuits and multiple parties. In this role she is used to enforcing her client’s rights along with a team of attorneys trained specially in high volume litigation utilizing cutting edge technology

and resources for that purpose. She also acts as counsel for a variety of large international clients in a number of jurisdictions, coordinating needs on a global scale.

Ms. Wahi serves as a co-chair of the firm’s India Practice Group. Ms. Wahi is a past board member and president of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington (its first woman president) and currently serves on its Advisory Board. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Seattle Repertory Theater and as a Board Delegate on the Washington Council on International Trade. She is a past trustee on the Washington State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Board of Trustees. She was named the sole 2009 Outstanding Young Lawyer by the King County Bar Association and has been named by her peers as a Washington Rising Star each year from 2009 to 2013. Ms. Wahi received her B.A. from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi, India. She also received her B.A. from the University of Cambridge Tripos Law, Magdalene College, Cambridge University in 1999 – automatic conversion to an M.A.

Kelly WhitesideVice President of Business ReadinessT-Mobile U.S.

As Vice President of Business Readiness at T-Mobile, Kelly Whiteside leads a cross-functional team through a companywide transformation effort focused on building a billing system replacement that is simple, intuitive & creates a consistent user experience for employees & customers. With her 27+ years of experience in Sales and Customer Service organizations, Kelly is able to carefully balance the needs of both the IT organization and the business.

Kelly began her career at T-Mobile in 2003 in the Customer Service organization where she led a cross-functional team to create a culture of service that took T-Mobile from worst to first in

Kelly then took responsibility for all of Business to Business (B2B) Operations, including program management, product release and lifecycle management, sales engineering, quota setting and compensation, systems and reporting, methods and procedures, training design and delivery, quality controls and communications.

Kelly’s early career included leading the service organization for Verizon Business/MCI Telecommunications. She also worked at Southwest Airlines where she learned the value of a great culture that she still employs today with her team at T-Mobile.

Kelly holds a Master of Science in Organizational Development from Pepperdine University. Kelly serves as a board member for a non-profit, Oysters and Pearls, where she is able to leverage her background and passion around learning to help children in Uganda learn computer programing, ensuring productive futures for them. She also serves on the Board of the Pepperdine University Alumni and is actively involved with the Boys and Girls Club.

Chrissy Yamada, CPASenior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, EvergreenHealth

Chrissy Yamada is responsible for directing EvergreenHealth’s finances, property leasing and construction management.

Yamada came to EvergreenHealth in 2004 from Northwest Hospital & Medical Center in Seattle, where she was Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, she spent several years in the local office of the national accounting firm of KPMG. Yamada earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Central Washington University, and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1985.

She is a member of several national and state organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. She serves as a board member for King County Project Access and Hospital Shared Services Association. Chrissy enjoys marathon running and skiing in her spare time.

Chrissy was recognized as one of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2015 CFOs of the Year, being honored as one of the “financial super-strategists of Washington companies and organizations.” She was also selected as a Northwest Asian Weekly Women of Color Empowered luncheon honoree in 2015 for her professional accomplishments transcending gender and race barriers in the workplace.
