Wenatchee High School has partnered with an online tutoring service to provide students with another opportunity for 1-on-1 homework help. This service allows students to work with a tutor at any time during the day or night (24/7). The service provides support for over 40 subject areas including all AP courses, and you will find that Spanish speaking tutors are available in math, science and social studies.

When students login to the service, the amount of time they work with a tutor is deducted from the total hours that we have purchased. The time deducted is the same regardless of the subject area students choose, or the time of day students are accessing the service. So, we ask that the time is used wisely.

The service may be used on a computer, tablet or smartphone and all correspondence is recorded within their system for the purpose of student safety.

**Good News from Remind** Remind is thrilled to share the news: Thanks to you, Verizon has informed us that they will #ReverseTheFee. As a result, we can continue to offer text notifications as part of the Remind service. There will be no service disruption for Verizon Wireless customers. We’re grateful to Verizon for making a commitment to support accessible communication for all Remind users. The Foundation for Water and Energy Education, Hydropower and STEM Career through activities at Rocky Reach Dam, June 24 – 28, 2019. At the Academy, students can explore the physics of producing hydropower, race solar cars and fly their own drone. These are part of STEM challenges that include meeting and doing hands-on activities with mechanical and electrical engineers, plant mechanics and operators, divers, and linemen.

Chelan County PUD’s Rocky Reach Visitor Center is the host location. Registration for the 5-day academy is $175 per student with some scholarships available. The application and other resource materials can be found at FWEE.org/academy. Applications need to be postmarked no later than May 10th, 2019.

If your student is more interested in learning a trade and joining the workforce than attending college, check into Job Corps. Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. Students can earn a high school diploma or the equivalent, or college credits through Job Corps. They offer career technical training in more than 100 career areas. Students receive housing/dormitories, nutritious meal options, basic medical care, a living allowance, and career training all at no cost. The Homework Center is beginning a new paper-editing service, allowing us to help students remotely. If you have students that would benefit from this extra editing assistance, they can share their google doc or email their paper to pantherhomeworkcenter@wenatcheeschools.org. One of our tutors, who specialize in English, will make editing comments within the next two Homework Center days (we are open Monday through Thursday).The purpose of this service is to refine students writing skills. We will not complete the assignment for them.
