Destiny Charter Middle School Parent Newsletter February 16th, 2018 Important Updates Tardy Notice It’s important for students to be on time to school in order to have a strong start and earn their daily gold! Students can get their Daily Gold if they are on time, in uniform, and have a pencil. Calendar of Events February 19th: NO SCHOOL February 22nd: Canvas & Cookies Family Event, 5:30 pm February 23rd: Tea with the Principal, 4:15 pm February 27th: Vision and Hearing Screenings February 28th: DCMS Open House 8th Grade Promotion Date Change Due to a scheduling conflict the date of the 8th Grade Promotion has been changed. Please see the updated information: Date: Wednesday, June 13th Time: 2:00 PM Where: DCMS Cafeteria Tickets: 2 tickets per student (due to capacity) DCMS Open House We are now accepting applications for the ‘18—’19 school year. If you have a 5th grader looking to attend Destiny in the fall, or know of a 7th or 8th grader looking to transfer, the applicant portal is now open! Feel free to attend, and invite others to attend our February 28th Open House from 5:30—6:30 PM! 2/27 Vision and Hearing Screenings Vision and hearing screenings are Tuesday, 2/27. Look for a notification letter going home with students next week. Reminder: If your student wears glasses, they need to bring them for their screening. Also, we still need parent volunteers to support the process. If you are able, please reach out to [email protected]. February Feature After School Programs Our after school programs are provided by Metro Parks. Students have the opportunity to participate in clubs such as Hip Hop Dance, Earth Alliance Club, Cooking, and much more! These clubs give them the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new friends, and try something new! Student, Elijah Leach, break dancing in the Hip Hop Dance club provided by Metro Parks.
