PRESIDENTS REPORT With the very hot weather continuing I
thought it appropriate to remind all
members of the Mildura Golf Resort’s
Heat policy and other adverse weather
conditions.
The Committee recognises it has a duty
of care to its members and therefore
have written the following policy. During
days where the forecast is for 45 degrees
Celsius and above the Match Committee
may decide to cancel the day’s
competition and/or the afternoon portion
only.
Members who play on days of extreme
heat do so at their own risk and are
advised to take measures to prevent heat
stress, heat stroke, heat cramps and
heat exhaustion. The following
precautions must be observed: carry a
mobile phone with the Pro Shops phone
number and call if assistance is required,
carry a drink container with water or
rehydration fluid, wear a hat, apply
sunscreen and carry an umbrella for
shade.
It is recommended that members
intending to play on days of extreme heat
should contact the Pro Shop on
50228089 to ascertain if the competition
has been cancelled or re-programmed to
the morning only.
Other extreme weather conditions that
can threaten the immediate or long-term
safety of individuals are: thunderstorms,
heavy rainfalls, lightening and heavy
winds.
If thunderstorms are imminent or present
we strongly advise you to leave the golf
course. A signal from the Pro Shop for
suspending play due to extreme weather
conditions will be a prolonged air-horn
that may be repeated. Resumption of
play will be two short air-horn notes
repeated.
In competition play, under rule 6.8 a
player may discontinue play by marking
the position of their ball, return to the
Club House and then resume play when
conditions are safe as advised by a
Match Committee representative.
If it is raining heavily, competition may be
discontinued for a period of up to 45
minutes and conditions reassessed to
determine whether play should continue.
When any of the above weather
conditions occur do not shelter under
trees and you are strongly advised to
leave the golf course.
On Australia Day, over 100 players
competed in the Klemms Newsagency
sponsored event and had a very
enjoyable day. A cooked breakfast and
lunch was provided to all players.
Watching the Australian Open tennis on
Friday night taught me a good lesson. In
all sports you have some good days and
bad days don’t let it get you down, just
keep on doing what you enjoy.
Good golfing to everybody.

CAPTAINS REPORT
Unfortunately, Rick Foster is away at the
moment and is not due back in Mildura
until later this month.
Klemms Newsagency held their sponsors
day on Australia day which was very
successful.
We congratulate John and Kerry for
there continued sponsorship over many
years and look forward to them doing it
again 2019.

Getting Women into Golf
In 2018 the Golf Committee and myself
are putting a focus on attracting more
women into golf. Often considered a
tough task by a lot of clubs around the
country; however with a different attitude
and a few outside the box ideas I am
confident we can have some success. So
watch this space Women's Golf at
Mildura Golf Resort is about to get a
gentle shake up.
Kind regards
