Sungod's Jonathan Wu finished in 7th place on January 15th at the 2019 Canadian
Tire National Skating Championships in St. John, N.B! He scored a total of 97.42 points!!!! Congratulations Jonathan!!!

Duck
A skating position in which the skater travels on one foot with the skating leg in a bent position and the other leg held forward, parallel to the ice.
This is the basic position for a sit spin.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT ON
Michelle Perry-Whi�ngham
Michelle’s family joined the Sungod Ska�ng Club in April,2018.
Michelle’s daughter, Reese, skates with the club at the Junior Stars
Academy Level. Michelle has volunteered in the past by collec�ng
bo@les for the club bo@le drive, collec�ng clothing for the club
clothing drive and as a dressing room supervisor at the club winter
recital. Michelle likes the environment at the club because of the
fantas�c coaches and the posi�ve support from everyone. She feels
others should join the Sungod Ska�ng Club because the club has an
amazing group of coaches and seniors that are so passionate about
what they do and work so hard to inspire the kids. She loves how
the seniors get their
chance to develop
leadership and teach-
ing skills by working
with the younger
children.

Volunteer Policy Update
Please be advised that Sungod Ska�ng Club is upda�ng our �me line for volunteers to complete
their required hours. Volunteer deposits will con�nue to be required in September with registra�on
to the Fall/Winter season, but families will now have un�l August 31 to complete their hours.
Deposits for completed hours will be returned that following September. This will allow members a
FULL year to accumulate their volunteer hours and give families a range of volunteer opportuni�es,
�mes and seasons that will work for variety of schedules.
In recogni�on that 2019 is the transi�on year to this new policy, Sungod is making ONE TIME ONLY excep�ons and extensions. If
you would like to ask about the excep�ons or extensions, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Nicole via email at
We will con�nue to need volunteer support throughout the coming Spring and Summer season with music playing, simula�ons,
fundraising and special events, and would gratefully appreciate the con�nued ac�vity of all the membership.
