What is Career Connection?

• Career Connection is Sac State’s free web-based

career services system. It is a fully integrated system,

enabling you to search for jobs, research employers,

and rsvp to Career Center events.

• You have the ability to access Career Connection 24

hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer with

internet access.

How To Register With Career

Connection

Step 1: Go to Career Center website: csus.edu/careercenter

Step 2: Scroll over Students

Step 3: Click Career Connection – Online Job Board

Step 4: Click New User Registration

Step 5: Enter username and password

A. Username: This is your saclink ID

B. Temporary Password: sacramento

Step 6: Fill out the registration form

A. Contact Information: make sure to use the correct contact information,

update as necessary.

B. Academic Information: this information is used to determine what jobs you

are eligible for, make sure to check for accuracy at least twice a semester

1. Overall GPA – Freshmen should use GPA from high school, update at

the end of the fall semester

2. Major GPA – Can be found on your transcript. Freshman should use

overall gpa, update the end of the fall semester

3. Major – If undecided, select “Undeclared Major”

Step 7: Click Submit

Step 8: Check your e-mail for an automated confirmation letter – follow instructions

to update your password.

How to Apply to a FWS Position

• Step 1: *Login to Career Connection with your Username and new password:

csus-csm.symplicity.com/students/

*Please note: the first time your login to your Career Connection account you will need to add some

additional academic information. You will also be prompted to indicate whether to set privacy

settings.

• Step 2: Upload Resume

a. Click Upload Resumes tab

b. Click “Add New”

c. Attach *Resume

*You must include your Student ID number at the top of your resume. If

you do not, your resume will not be considered.

How to Apply to a FWS Position

• Step 3: Hover Over “Search For Jobs” tab

• Step 4: Select “Job Postings” link

• Step 5: Select Positions Type “Federal Work Study” OR do a

keyword search for FWS

• Step 6: Hit the “Search” key

• Step 2: Review positions description for qualifications and

requirements.

• Step 3: Click “Apply”
