A RESOLUTION TO ENACT AN ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE SPONSORS OF THE ARAW NG DABAW 2014 FROM THE PERTINENT PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 092, SERIES OF 2000 (SIGNAGE ORDINANCE OF DAVAO CITY), PARTICULARLY SECTION 37 (SIGNAGE FEE) AS WELL AS THE SPECIAL MAYORS PERMIT FEE, IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR SPONSORSHIP IN THE ARAW NG DABAW 2014 CELEBRATION

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City Government of Davao to promote the participation of the private sector as active partner in all the city-sponsored events such as the Araw ng Dabaw;

WHEREAS, the Araw ng Dabaw is one of the established events of the city celebrated annually to commemorate its Foundation or Charter Day;

WHEREAS, the Executive Committee created by virtue of Executive Order No. 11, Series of 2014, signed by the Honorable Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte identified various events in order to bring more color and fun in this festivity;

WHEREAS, these events are the ones that would entice visitors and tourists in celebrating with the Dabawenyos in this joyous festival;

WHEREAS, in order to run and stage these events, the sponsorship of the private sector is required to augment with the expenses and other requirements;

WHEREAS, the city has received pledges and commitments from the various private sectors in order to be the sponsors during the Araw ng Dabaw;

WHEREAS, the sponsorship of the private sector has indeed helped in making the events of the Araw ng Dabaw a successful one;

WHEREAS, the only way that the City Government can give their gratitude to the sponsors is by granting them exemption from the Signage Fee and the Special Mayors Permit Fee relative to their streamers and other temporary signs that will be installed in connection with the Araw ng Dabaw celebration;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED to

ENACT AN ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE SPONSORS OF THE ARAW NG DABAW 2014 FROM THE PERTINENT PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 092, SERIES OF 2000 (SIGNAGE ORDINANCE OF DAVAO CITY), PARTICULARLY SECTION 37 (SIGNAGE FEE) AS WELL AS THE SPECIAL MAYORS PERMIT FEE, IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR SPONSORSHIP IN THE ARAW NG DABAW 2014 CELEBRATION;RESOLVED FURTHER, that in no case shall these sponsors be exempt from complying with the other provisions of the Signage Ordinance of Davao City and other pertinent laws and regulations, and that there should be close coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) and the City Engineers Office;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Office of the City Mayor, the City Legal Office, the City Treasurers Office, the Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH), the Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) and all other concerned government offices and agencies for their information, guidance and appropriate action.
