Activity Levy

Application FeeA non-refundable Application Fee of $250 (incl GST) per child, is to accompany the Application for Enrolment form. Application for Enrolment forms are processed in the order of receipt.

Entry Fee• $2,000 per child for entry.

• $5,000 per family with 3 or more children enrolling at the same time.

During the year preceding your child’s year of entry to the School, you and your son/daughter will be invited to attend an interview at the School. Following the interview, your son or daughter may be offered a place at NGS. Should you accept this offer, the non-refundable entry fee is payable.

Pre-school ($84.00 per day, maximum number of days is 195 per year).

Activity LevyThe Activity levy covers (but is not limited to) educational and school curriculum related activities for a whole year group, such as student subscriptions, excursions, pastoral care activities or camp. Charges that do not apply to all students in a year group are charged separately as incurred.

Family RemissionsFor families with multiple children attending the School concurrently and billed on the same statement, the eldest child is charged full fees with;

- 10% remission applicable for the second child

- 50% remission for the third and subsequent child/ren.

Family remissions only apply to Tuition fees.

Fees PayableTuition Fees will be payable in 10 monthly instalments commencing January. These instalments are due by the 15th of each month.

Annual tuition fee payments are accepted and will attract a Tuition fee discount of 1.5% if payment is received in full by the 15 February 2020.

The School’s preferred method of payment of Tuition fees is via direct debit from a nominated credit card or bank account. Details about this payment method will be sent with your first statement. Other options for payment available are BPay (Biller code 132050), Credit Card (Mastercard and Visa via the School’s website), EFT (NGS General Account BSB 062 815 Account Number 1001 7340), EFTPOS, Cheque or Cash via Accounts Department. Please note a surcharge for payment received via Credit Card is applicable.

Overseas StudentsFull Fee Paying Overseas Students (FFPOS) pay a higher scale of fees incorporating but not limited to Commonwealth and State Per Capita equivalents. These are detailed in a separate schedule of information for FFPOS.

Other FeesSubject Course fees for practical subjects Years 9 to 12 including Timber, Visual Arts, Hospitality, HSC Music, Technology are charged per semester (approximately $50 per semester).

Musical Instrument Hire depends on instrument ranges between $50 - $80 per term.

Late PaymentAccounts not paid by the due date will attract overdue account interest. This interest is calculated utilising the Supreme Court Pre Judgement rate applicable at the time.

Ongoing attendance at Newcastle Grammar School is contingent upon prompt payment of Tuition Fees. The Head of School or their delegate reserve the right to withdraw a student’s place if fees have not been paid within the School’s payment terms. Similarly, a student may not be allowed to participate in a non-compulsory school event (ie overseas trip or co-curricular activities) unless Tuition Fees have been paid.

Parents who encounter difficulty in timely payment of fees and other charges should contact the Finance Department in advance of the due date for payment on (02) 4929 5811. Goods and Services

TaxMost School activities and educational services are exempt from the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The School reserves the right to charge GST for goods and services provided where exemptions do not apply.

Credit SurchargeTo cover associated Merchant fees paid by the School to Banks and other credit providers, a credit card surcharge is applicable. For Credit Card transactions the surcharge applicable is 0.79% and for Credit Card payments made by BPAY 0.594%. Any such surcharge will appear on the next fee statement.

Building Fund DonationsAll parents are encouraged to contribute to Newcastle Grammar School’s Building Fund. All amounts contributed to the Fund in excess of $2 are tax deductible. An amount of $25 per child per monthly instalment or $250 annually is reflected at the bottom of each statement. The Voluntary Contribution is voluntary and is not included in the Amount Owing or any Statement Opening balance. Such donations provide an important boost to the development of additional facilities available to the students.

WithdrawalOne full Term’s notice must be given in writing to the Head of School prior to the withdrawal of a Student from the School, otherwise one full Term’s fees are payable. This does not apply to Year 12 Students in their last term at the School.
