Do You Know Someone Who Would Like to Volunteer?
Without the volunteers of Community Care Northumberland many people would be lonely, hungry, sad, worried,
anxious and unwell.
This summer when you are visiting with your relatives, friends and neighbours I encourage you to mention your
volunteer work at Community Care. We are always looking for people interested in helping others in their own
community. Our volunteers are our greatest sales force in recruiting new people to join our team. Here are some
pointers for that recruitment conversation.
One of the best features of volunteering with Community Care is the breadth of volunteer opportunities available.
Your friend may like socializing with others and therefore would be a great Friendly Visitor or Telephone Security
Check volunteer. If your neighbour enjoys driving, Community Care has lots of volunteering driving options available
and delivering meals on wheels. Maybe your relative is looking for work experience in an office setting, then an
office volunteer position would be up their alley. Our Hospice program is always looking for people who are
interested in spending time with individuals at the end of their life. This may be of interest to someone you know.
Last year Community Care Northumberland had over 750 active volunteers. Not only is this an amazing number, we
want to keep this number growing. There are many new people moving to the Northumberland area. Newcomers
to the area are also a wonderful resource for volunteer positions. Volunteering helps in getting to know your com-
munity and to meet new people. What better introduction to Northumberland County then joining the volunteer
team at Community Care.
And lastly, when talking with volunteers about their experiences at Community Care I hear time and again; “I get
more from my experience with CCN clients than I think I give”!
So, while enjoying the summer days, warm nights and long weekends – invite your friends to check out Community
Care Northumberland.

“Staff members in our Colborne office say that every time
one of them mentioned that they need to look for a
volunteer for something, it’s like Sharron can hear them
from a mile away, and will jump in and do it,” said Baird.
This volunteer is a great ambassador for Community Care
Northumberland and we are happy to award this year’s
volunteer award to Sharron.”

Simple Snacks Made In Under 5 Minutes
Everyone gets busy with life and we all have a bad habit of not leaving time to eat. Below we have supplied a few
recipes that would take under 5 minutes to prepare. You can take them on the go, pack it for a snack during lunch
or enjoy at home. Any recipe can be altered to accommodate your diet. The recipes I chose were all pretty simple
ones and most of us have these items in our fridge or cupboards and these snacks are inexpensive to prepare.
