Assured Thermal PerformanceWhen installed in accordancewith instructions so thatcompression is controlled,QuietR@ AcousticR" Duct Linerprovides specifi ed thermalperformance. See R-value tablebelow. Operating costs arecontrolled due to reduction ofheat loss or gain through ductwdls.

Acoustically EfficientDuct systems built with this linerabsorb fan and air turbulencenoise and reduce popping noisescaused by sheet metal expansion,contraction and vibration.

ApplicationRecommendations

All portions of duct designated toreceive QuietR@ AcousticR' DuctLiner shall be completely coveredwith duct liner: adhered to thesheet metal with 90% coverage ofadhesive complying with ASTM C915. Transverse joints shall beneatly butted and there shall beno interruptions or gaps. Alltransverse joints shall be edge-coated. Metal nosing on leadingedges must be used where ductliner is preceded by unlined metal,and on all upstream edges whenvelocity exceeds 4,000 fpm (20,3m/s). The black mat faced surfaceof the duct liner shall face theairstream.

QuietR@ AcousticR- Duct Linershall also be secured withmechanical fasteners, eitherimpact-driven or weld-secu red,which shall comoress the ductliner sufficiently to hold it firmly inplace. For fastener spacing, seeillustration.

,:,::r:F#d $ffi iiil ffi $il$H6iBtii:,i,i

Duct Liner shall be cut to assureoverlapped and compressedlongitudinal corner joints. Fordetails, referto NAIMAPublication AHl24, Fibrous GlassDuct Liner Standard,

Minor damage and small tearsmay be repaired by coating withadhesive.

After,installation, and prior tooccupancy blow out duct systemto remove any cuttrng scraps orforeign material remaining in theduct.

Installing two layers of material tomeet a soecific linerthickness isnot recommended. lf thesoecif rcation forces the use ofmultiple layers, the following stepsmust be taken:

l. Adhere bottom layer of ductl inerto duct in normal mannen

2. Adhere top layer to bottomlayer of l iner using a minimumof 90% adhesive coverage.

3. Treat all leading edges withmetal nosings to preventseparation of the two layers.

4. Use mechanical fasteners of theproper length for double layer:
