    This is a great music and movement class for ages 0 to 3 years and an accompanying adult. Learn fun songs and dances, play musical instruments, and sing while making new friends! This class promotes learning through play, parent/child bonding, an apprecia on for music, language and motor skills development. Come play with Miss Carmen!

    MUSIC AND ME

    This class helps children learn the fundamentals of soccer in a non-compe ve se$ng. This class will help your child develop social skills such as listening and following direc ons as well as help with hand-eye coordina on. Classes held at Moody Park.

    TEE BALL

    This class helps children learn the fundamentals of Tee-Ball in a non-compe ve se$ng. Your child will be introduced to throwing, catching and hi$ng. Listening and following direc ons are also emphasized. Classes are held at Moody Park.

    Has your child ever dreamed of scoring the winning the touchdown, or one day earning the Heisman Trophy. If so, this is where those dreams begin. The Fairview Heights Parks and Recrea on Department is star ng a Football Camp for beginners that are interested in learning about and playing football. The football class will cover a variety of posi ons, and will be safe for everyone involved. This is the perfect opportunity to introduce your child to this exci ng game.

    TENNIS

    Ages 5-11

    Tennis benets children physically and mentally. They not only burn calories but also improve cardio, bone strength and coordina on. Children will learn discipline, strategic thinking and sportsmanship. In this class, we will help children develop the skills needed for beginner tennis. Classes are held at Pleasant Ridge Park by Pavilion #4.

    Beginner through black belt karate program designed to teach students all aspects of tradi onal karate: basic techniques, stances, kata/forms, self-defense, mat work, and sparring. A great family ac vity to gain self-condence, self-esteem, self-respect, self-defense, and self-discipline. All while ge$ng in shape and learning to defend one-self. Classes are held in the Recrea on Room on Monday evenings from 5:456:25 p.m. Classes are instructed by Karate Fitness. Class has open enrollment and new students may enroll at the beginning of any month.

    This program is an excellent opportunity for a beginner as well as the more experienced junior golfer. Golf is a unique sport that helps build character at any age. Golf balls and clubs (if needed) are furnished free of charge. Camp will be held at Stonewolf Golf Course (located at 1195 Stonewolf Trail) and instructed by P.G.A Professional Don Hawkins. Dont miss this great opportunity to get your youngsters out on the course! All par cipants will be eligible to par cipate in the $10 Junior Play Days at Stonewolf in the month of July (meets on Wednesdays from 7 p.m.9 p.m.)

    GARDENING WITH NATURE

    Enjoy all that nature has to oerplants, insects, and animals. Learn how to be a part of the natural way to garden. We will learn about soil, seeds, insects, plants,

    make craKs and grow beans! Class will meet at Pavilion # 1 in Pleasant Ridge Park. Each par cipant will need to bring their own container to plant their seeds in on the rst mee ng. This class is instructed by two members of the Gardeners of Fairview, an organiza on whose goal is to enhance the enjoyment of gardening in our community.

    Be sure to keep your ears open to learn more about their eorts such as a community garden in Pleasant Ridge Park!

    2015-2016 school year). Children will be assigned to teams according to grade (K-2nd in one league and 3rd & 4th in

    Volunteer Coaches are needed! Please let us know if you would be willing to step up and help out. (All coaches must pass a background check) We are looking for dependable

    parents that want to be proac ve in their childs recrea onal development to be volunteer coaches.

    Children ages 5-7 get signed up for Safety Town which teach-es lifesaving lessons through stranger, trac, re, pedestri-

    an, gun, poison, drug, playground, bus, booster and bicycle safety. Its a lot of informa on relayed through various

    demonstra ons, games, ac vity sheets and much more. Also, what would Safety Town be without the Town? The

    child-sized town includes trac lights, miniature street signs, crosswalks, etc. Students will be both pedestrians and mo-torists using pedal cars (with seat belts, of course)! These

    tools help instructors use a hands-on approach.

  • Looking for a way for you and your family to get in shape together? Walking club is an excellent way to get in shape and spend quality me together. You will earn prizes as you progress through the program. The more you walk, the more you earn. Meet at the start of the walking trail at Moody Park beginning in May. You must be a Fairview Heights resident to receive prizes.

    Food coop is a great program to save money while ea ng healthy. The food coop is every other Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. 9:45 a.m. You must order by the Thursday before pick up. See one of our basket lists from February, 1 bunch of bananas, 4 red apples, 2 grapefruit, 4 kiwi, 3 plums, 1lb strawberries, 1pk grape tomatoes, 1pk of baby portabellas, 1lb bag of carrots, 2 cucumbers, 1 eggplant, 1lb green beans, 3/4lb sugar snap peas, bag of spinach leaves, 1 zucchini and 2 lemons. This was all for $23! Please call the oce at 489-2040 for ordering and pick up details.

    Fairview Heights Parks and Recrea on is oering a Mens Golf League on Thursday evenings at Stonewolf Golf Club. League starts May 1st and runs through August 28th which includes an end of season tournament. League fees are $125 per team. This league will have a minimum of 8 teams with a maximum of 20 teams. Each team will be allowed to have a 12 man roster for a 4 man team. Weekly cost is $22 per golfer which includes cart rental. (You can not beat this price!!) All teams need to pre-register and will need to have a team member aQend the captains mee ng to discuss the rules of the league. Captains mee ng - April 16th at 7 p.m. Please call 489-2040 for a golf packet.

    Join us for a day of tas ng in Maplewood, MO. We will start the day with a tour of Trader Joes and free me at the Brentwood Promenade. From there we will go to Maple-wood for a tas ng party at Vom Fass. They are closing the shop just for us! As we enjoy our 8 dish tas ng buet as well as 5 boQles of their wine, we will hear all about their exclu-sive oils, vinegars, spices and ne spirits from around the world. AKer some free me in Maplewood, we will then ven-ture home with a detour involving the infamous Ted Drewes ( me permi$ng). The cost includes transporta on, tours and lunch. ($40 is due at registra on, $10 is due the day of)

    PEABODY OPERA HOUSE

    & BEVO MILL Step inside the Peabody Opera House and get a behind the scenes look at the newly renovated theatre and entertain-ment venue. AKer seeing the ornate theatre, formally known as the Kiel Opera House, we will dine for lunch at the infa-mous Bevo Mill while learning of its past as an original Busch property and how it was acquired by the owners today. The cost includes transporta on, tour fees and lunch.

    Recreation Room Reservations

    January 2016July 2016 reservations will open August 1, 2015. The Recreation Room opened in the Summer of 2014 and has been a success ever since. It is an indoor facility that holds 150 people equipped with a cater-style kitchen (not for cooking) with an ice machine, microwave and refrigerator. Furnished with ele-gant round linenless tables (that you wont want to cover) it is the perfect spot for your next family gathering or celebration.

    To keep in its excellent condition, there are a few things to note

    No alcohol is permitted in the room

    No open flames

    No taping decorations to any surface

    Reserving party is responsible for cleaning up after their event

    All reservations must be made by Fairview Heights Residents in person. The facility reservation hours are from 9 a.m. 11 p.m.

    Reservation Fee..$150* *if paying by cash or check, an additional $150 security deposit is required

    Fairview Heights Parks and Recreation is offering for the first time ever, an adult coed wiffle ball league. So gather your friends, form a team and swing for the fences because Wiffle Ball Season is officially here! The league will take place on Sunday afternoons running from May-July. Each team can have a roster up to 12 players. Games will run for 7 innings or until scheduled time limit. An umpire will be provided. At the end of the season the team with the best record will receive the coveted Wiffle Ball Champion T-Shirts as well as bragging rights until next season. Please join us on the Miracle Field for Open-ing Day on Sunday, May 17th.

    * There will be no games May 24, June 21, and July 5.

    As you may have noticed, over the past few years, we have been making huge strides to updating the City of Fairview Heights parks. It is now that you are seeing all the hard work and planning coming to life. First the new fitness trail equipment, Miracle Field, then the playground and next, the pavilions. It is not stopping there! We are in the early stages of discussing potential new fitness trail surfaces. It only makes sense to include you in this dis-cussion.
