Change in fiduciary support at Sanlam Trust Since the beginning of 2016, Sanlam Trust has been on a journey to reposition the company as the fiduciary partner of choice for the South African intermediary. This strategic repositioning started with the move of Sanlam Trust’s fiduciary consultants who previously provided Distribution with comprehensive fiduciary support in the respective regions, to the Financial Planning Enablement environment (FPE) within Distribution.

Estates services Sanlam Trust administers estates mainly from two sources, namely:

Where Sanlam Trust has been named as executor in the will of the deceased; and

Where an external person/institution has been named as executor in the will of the deceased and is not in a position to administer the estate, or where no will has been drawn up naming a person/institution as executor. Sanlam Trust will administer these estates under power of attorney.

The average time for the full administration process to be completed varies from 35 – 60 weeks.

Sanlam Trust commits to:-

o Monthly communication to intermediaries and heirs (every 30 days); and

o Dealing with complaints within 48 hours.

Reporting of an estate • Documents for reporting of an estate available on the Sanlam website and SanPort. • It is the responsibility of the intermediary on record to report the estate by:-

o Completing the documents and forwarding it to Sanlam Trust o Bringing next-of-kin to Sanlam Trust for personal reporting

Sanlam Trust will report an estate to the Master within 7 working days after receipt of all necessary documents and information. Contact details for the reporting of an estate
