Each team will be provided with a field work observation plan. You need to submit this at the end of the class.

Each group should have 6 or 8 members (even number)

Choose a site where you want to conduct your fieldwork.

When you observe, use all applicable senses.

You listen to conversations.

Observe people’s behavior.

In this exercise, use your debunking motif.

See the reactions of people and compare their reactions.

You may want to conduct an experiment at the same time.

Examples of an Experiment

◦ A student will pretend that he/she unintentionally dropped several pieces of coins or books inside a restaurant (near the cashier). See the reactions of people. Will people help? You can also compare the reactions of people based on the sex of the person doing the acting.

You need to take photos but make sure its not obvious. Be careful.

There is ethical issue by taking pictures without your subject’s knowledge. But for this exercise, I will allow you to do this. Just be careful.

Please conduct your fieldwork by pair. While this is a group work, you are only allowed to do the fieldwork by pair.

Consolidate your findings/observations as a group.

Write down your observations using the fieldwork observation sheet available in the website, www.intsocibsd.weebly.com. Attached the observation sheets in your final report.

When you go to the area, make sure you have your observation sheet. You need to indicate there the time duration in which you conducted your observation.
