Focusing on what led to chaos, resentment, and hostility from abuse and neglect during my childhood guides my journey to a testimony of hope and healing. During my search for healing, I discovered it’s not the details in my story, but the outcome from my journey that holds great substance. Clarifying what this means to me has come after repeatedly processing the pain from past memories and making sense of the “what’s and why’s.” I now realize it’s more critical to endure the pain of emotional surgery and rid myself of what polluted my heart rather than allowing my mind to be consumed with a past that lead to no positive outcome. A simple approach I’ve embraced is gracefully vomiting up the painful details that became my soul’s disease since the solution to being free of most diseases requires major surgery. To be set free from the weight of my past, I had to purge all destructive coping patterns leading to my disease and replace them with something else. I had a choice: remain stuck in these details at a great cost to my well-being, or remove what caused my soul’s disease to interfere with everything I desired to be relationally linked to—my marriage, children, and even my worship with God. There’s nothing pleasant about regurgitating; however, the effort of doing so brought me great freedom and forgiveness, as the replacement of this weight led to a positively beautiful outcome. Focusing on what led to chaos, resentment, and hostility from abuse and neglect during my childhood guides my journey to a testimony of hope and healing. During my search for healing, I discovered it’s not the details in my story, but the outcome from my journey that holds great substance. As I share what inspired my journey to truth, I’m hopeful these passages will become a divine inspiration and move you toward discovering the key to unlocking your own chapters of truth. Perhaps your emotional secrets from past pain have begun to surface and you’ve finally found desire to fi ght for healing from your brokenness. Your unawareness of how to let go of those secrets may leave you asking, “What do I do with this discovery?”

That’s when I was forced to hit that moment of truth!

The awareness of damage from my childhood wasn’t visible to me until instability later in life triggered old wounds that would undergo a series of emotional surgeries due to the depth of my denial. Denial became my defense mechanism protecting me from the overwhelming anxiety too great to acknowledge at that time.

Once I decided to let go of what kept me stuck in the ruts of mud and mire, God took hold of each piece in my life that was turned upside down, moving me to the next level by turning me inside out. My focus is no longer lingering on the past that once consumed me with destructive patterns.

God wants to remove what’s polluting us on the inside—moving us toward a new focus on healing through His Grace. God’s Grace has a way of turning everything in life that’s upside down, inside out.
