FIGHTING CHANCE

Welcome to friends old and new . . .

The year 2005 was when Fighting Chance added a new counseling componentto the services we offer, free of charge, to cancer patients on the East End.

Our staff now includes an oncological social worker (Karrie Zampini Robinson,LCSW) with 16 years experience at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Another alumnusof Memorial (Heather Matthews), joined us full-time as a cancer information spe-cialist. And our Director of Internet Outreach (Jessica Berlin) obtained her MSWin ‘05, and expanded “e-counseling” with visitors to our website. Here are theteam’s key statistics, expressed on an annual basis.

The number of telephone counseling sessions Heather has withcancer patients, helping them to better understand their diseaseand navigate the health care system.

300 per year

300 per year The number of advisory emails sent by Jessica in response toquestions and concerns expressed by visitors to our websitevisitors.

4,000 per year The approximate number of copies of our resource guide (en-titled “Coping With Cancer on the East End”) that are distrib-uted; many are downloaded off our website, where the entire75-page Guide can be examined. Many of our requests forcounseling, by the way, come from the Guide’s readership.

The number of counseling sessions conducted at our office byKarrie Robinson with cancer patients and their caregivers.

150 per year

The approximate number of “page views” from our website eachyear -- mostly by visitors who read select chapters of the Guide, and often return again with family and friends.

80,000per year

What is most important about these numbers is the message they send to thecancer patients in our communities: If you are fighting cancer. . there are manyothers who will fight by your side.

Sincerely,

Duncan DarrowChairman of the Board

$275,000 What we raised in charitable contributions in 2005
