M essage of the President

M essage from the Editor

Firstly I wish to acknowledge the FNUSA Council Members for electing me as their First President of FNUSA. On this same note, Acknowledgment is sent to the Office of the Registrar, the Office of the VC and our Steering committee who has given life to FNUSA. It is indeed an honor to serve the Largest Students Association in Fiji.FNUSA Stands vital community where members share their ideas, learn from each other, and grow together. And ultimately we are about supporting the students with whom we are to work with. FNUSA is committed to work with the University and recommend appropriate resolutions passed by the FNUSA Council. At Fiji National University, we

pride ourselves on being sensitive to the needs of the students that we serve. The FNUSA facilitates the process in which that goal is reached by working with students and the university. Branch Student Senate meetings are a time for Class reps / Students representatives from all organizations on the campus generate resolutions and present feedbacks and ideas to ensure the university provides a perfect environment for their education.FNUSA is one of the strongest pillars of this university amplifying the united voice of students at all levels in a very diplomatic and civilized manner. Students are the customers of this university and members of FNUSA.

FNUSA is working closely with the Office of the Vice Chancellor and Office of the Registrar. FNUSA is looking forward to work together with FNU Alumni Association, other University Student Associations, NGOs and other Organizations. I invite you to encourage others to become aware of our FNUSA and its branches and engage with them. Much like most of the work we do on our campuses is about students, this work we do for FNUSA is about you, our members. I hope you continue to find that fnusa nourishes your professional development needs. I hope you also continue to find that FNUSA allows you to connect with the colleagues new and old.

K now your FNUSA Executives

The Fiji National University is working on establishing a close and collaborative working partnership with its newly formed Students Association. FNU Vice Chancellor Professor NigelHealey said students are central to the University and the institute would ensure a high quality education service for current and future students. Professor Healey, while welcoming students at a dinner function organised by the Nasinu Students’ Association, outlined various plans for FNUSA. “I am very excited to us building a dedicated FNUSA headquarters building in the next couple of years. I am also looking forward to working with the team on how the sports facilities here on campus can be improved by putting in place things like a gymnasium, more football fields

and so on,” said Professor Healey. “Over the next three to four weeks, the FNUSA President and I will visit every campus to meet with the staff to explain to them the importance of both FNUSA and the campus based associations. “ VC Healey will also engage with students at each campus and discuss development plans. “I’m pleased to see how the FNUSA is gaining momentum. It is important that this association flourishes both at national and campus level representing the voice of the student population to the university. Students come to university for much more than a Diploma or a Degree. This is a really important time of your lives and that it’s important that we provide you as much support as we can. The university essentially exists for you the students,” said

Professor Healey. The presence of the FNU Alumni Association (FNUAA) members was acknowledged at the dinner and students were informed on how they could obtain mentorship and guidance from this association.
