Input Processes Output Transformed Resources    

The items that are changed, e.g materials are made into products: Information e.g an order will transform into a complete/deliver order: customers will become satisfied customer 

All the activities/processes that are undertaken to make/deliver a product to a customer. This may include physical processes: e.g handling a customer enquiry; authorizing a mortgage, etc

 

The end results - could be a car, mobile phone etc. Could be a service e.g insurance policy, fixed are: etc. Often it is a combination of product and services, i.e you have your mobile phone and it was delivered to you 

Transforming Resources    

The items that change the transformed resources, e.g machinery may cut the material into a shape vehicles may move materials/products to their destination. Staffs also are transforming, e.g they may operate the machinery, or they may answer the phone/ serve the customer so transforming the customer into a satisfied one.

Next Requirement is to create a business process mapping of the current process at the Blackberry Hill Farm and also to create a new and improve business process mapping that will improve the day to day operations at the Farm. (Evaluate how they could improve the operations process, this should promote the database system and other ideas for operations improvement.) the database was a group assignment that has already been completed. 

Below are the shapes and information about the Process Mapping symbols that are necessary for the completion of the two (2)Business Process Mapping for the Blackberry Hill Farm. 

Design the order of steps/activities

Design needs to consider the people and equipment needed to undertake the task

Processes mapping – describes the processes in terms of how the activities within the process relate to each other (also called process blueprinting or process analysis)

Symbols are used to classify different types of activities; different symbols can be used, arising from different disciplines

Using the information above kindly do the Current Business Process Mapping for the Blackberry Hill Farm using the relevant shapes at the particular function/process, also a New and improve Business Process Mapping is required for the Farm this should be shorter than the Current Process but every effective and better for the Farms operations. A short explain is required as to why this new business process mapping is better for the farm and how it is going to improve it. Hence 2 diagrams are required 

show the Current Business Process Mapping and Another showing the New and Improve Business Process Mapping. 

Part 2 of Assignment

Complete a mind map/rich picture to identify and explore the people management and technology issues at the Blackberry Hill Farm. Analyse how to improve the operations and Blackberry Hill Farm considering these issues. 

Mind Map 

The idea is to map all people, organisational and technological issues you picked up from the case study. 

Try to offer solutions as well. You can include images and you can create it using Ms Word, MS Visio or download software such a MindGenius to create it. mindGenius is a good option. 

The following are slides that can help you understand the reason and what Mind Map Rich looks like. An example of a University mind Map Rich was done for your better understanding of what’s required. This was examples that were given in class. 

It is important to emphasize that an information system is not technology for technology’s sake, it is a solution to a problem or set of problems the organization perceives it is facing— including the problem of an opportunity that requires the use of information systems in order to undertake. What problems with business processes have students encountered or witnessed in their work or educational career that could have been improved with the help of a new or improved information system?

Developing an information system solution is based on the problem-solving process. 

Emphasize the distinction between the orange boxes (systems analysis) and the blue box (implementation): why doesn’t implementation fall into the category of systems analysis? (Because the analysis has already been performed and a solution has been chosen; the final task is to actually create the planned solution.) 

These are critical questions that businesses must ask as they begin to plan for the creation of a new information system. What would the result be if these questions were not thoroughly considered and answered prior to construction of the system?

The picture shows a university student accommodation problem situation: at its centre is the accommodation office overwhelmed with paperwork computerisation may be the answer. The university has an advantage over rivals by guaranteeing beds to students, but numbers are rising. Lines round parts of the picture show possible systems to be considered the accommodation office system is part of a wider university system. Different types of leases are shown Plus the perception of students and landlords of each other. Taken together, the various components of the picture express those elements of the situation which the analyst considers of particular importance.

Describe the role of information systems in careers in accounting/finance, human resources, marketing and operations management, and explain how careers in information systems have been affected by new technologies and outsourcing.
