I attended the 2012 MTI event and found it extremely useful and interesting. While at the event I managed to talk to professional engineers from many industrial backgrounds and got multiple contacts for potential work experience. In early 2013 I wrote to 4 companies who I had contacts for from MTI and got 3 responses, all offering a week of work experience at the respective company. I accepted 2 of the offers from Oclaro and Valeport. I really enjoyed both weeks and learnt a lot about both companies. Both MTI and my Sixth Form teachers influenced my degree choice, I am studying MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with an Industrial Year at the University of Birmingham.
