    Objectives :

    This course aims to familiarize the students with the current trends in information

    technology and management systems. The course is designed to make the students aware

    about the applications of information technology in business. Management information

    systems are key to business functions and students need a fundamental understanding of

    the principles of systems theory to prepare them to work with and manage information

    systems within organizations. Emphasis is placed on management and technical concepts

    fundamental to business applications and management control of information systems.

    Coverage will include transaction-processing systems that support daily business

    operations, and management information and decision support systems that aid in

    planning, organizing and controlling business activities. The goal of this course is to

    provide management information system concepts that can be useful to the student in

    future business courses, as a user of management information systems, and as a future

    decision maker concerned with the acquisition, application and control of business

    information system.

    Pedagogy: The approach to the course will be a combination of lectures, case analyses,

    discussion groups, and presentations. All students are expected to come to class prepared

    to participate in the days activities. You are expected to review the assigned readingsbefore coming to class and to prepare thoroughly the case before class. You may be called

    upon to start the discussion on any day.
