Savory/Sweet Grilled Cheese Sinful Apple CrispSuper Simple Roasted Apples
- 4 apples, peeled and sliced thin - 1 Tbsp lemon juice - 3 tsp. brown sugar - 1 or 1 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon - 1 tsp. of cornstarch - sprinkling of ground all spice - pinch of sale - 2 tsp. butter, cut into small cubes
Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with
parchment paper. Spread sliced apples across the baking sheet. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, all spice, and salt. Toss with fingers. Top with cubes of butter and bake for 15 to 25 minutes, until golden and bubbly to your desired doneness. Re-move from oven. Allow to cool slightly and serve on top of ice cream or oatmeal.
- 4 slices of hearty, whole grain bread - 2 thick slices of aged white cheddar cheese (Hint: Try Shelburne Farms’ infamous aged cheddar!) - 1-2 Tbsp butter - 1 Mac apple, thinly sliced - 1 onion, chopped
If using onion, add onions to a skillet over medium heat lightly sprayed with non-stick spray. Cook onions
until soft, light brown and caramelized, stirring occa-sionally - about 5-8 minutes. Set aside.Toast your slices of breadly lightly in the toaster so they are more crisp (optional). Then lightly spread butter on one side of each slice.With the skillet over medium, add two slices of bread buttered side down and top each with one slice of cheese. Then top it off with a healthy portion of caramelized onion and sliced apple and then top with the other slice of bread - buttered side up.Cook on each side until golden brown and crisp - 2-3 minutes - being careful not to burn.
- medium apples, sliced (4 cups) - 3/4 cup packed brown sugar - 1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour - 1/2 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats - 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened - 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon - 3/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening.
Spread apples in pan. In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients except cream until well mixed; sprinkle over apples.Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm.
