    Bicycle playing cards presents

  • Product NameBicycle playing cards

    Target AudienceYoung children between 8-12

HistoryIn January 1867, A. O. Russell, Robert J. Morgan, James M. Armstrong and John F. Robinson Jr. formed a partnership and began printing theatrical and circus posters, placards and labels.

The company became so popular that a new location was needed for its headquarters in 1872. After the company had moved to its new location, Mr. Russell suggested that the company start making playing cards along with their other products.

The first deck of playing cards was completed on June 28, 1881. The playing cards were such a popular hit that around 1600 packs were produced per day. This popular company later became known as the producers of Bicycle playing cards, which has become one of the most popular playing card brands today.

However, the designs of these playing cards are targeted towards adults. Many of the designs arent really suited for younger children who seem to be the main audience of playing cards, since most adults will play games online now instead of using the actual deck.

Whats the Big Idea? Since playing cards are more accurately targeted to younger children, specifically between the ages of 8-12, Bicycle playing cards need redesigned to better fit this audience. While some adults still prefer actual playing cards to playing cards on the computer, the main target audience is children. Children most frequently use playing cards on rainy days or while camping during the summer to play games like spoons, war, CRAP, and Egyptian Rat Screw.

Redesigning the packaging and individual look of the cards with a Disney theme will make the cards more suitable for the targeted age group and help increase the sales, since the majority of the playing card buyers are children or parents of little children. The Disney theme playing cards will make it easier for the targeted age group to stay interested in the playing cards as well.

The playing card deck will include a variety of Disney Heroes and Villains and include both the older and newer Disney movies.

StyleGuideLogos The color logo should be used on all packaging and the backs of all playing cards. The Disney shooting star should be placed above the crown with the starting line and shooting star going between the first and fifth crown points. The title Disneys should be placed above the teal banner using the font Waltograph at 14 points. This logo should include the words Heroes & Villains playing cards. The font Henny Penny should be used for the title Heroes & Villians and should be 22 points. This title should be typed on a path so it follows the curvature of the banner. The font Arial Regular should be used for the title playing cards which should always be lowercased and should be 12 points. This should be placed between the bottom of the banner and bottom of the crown, so there is equal spacing on both sides of the text; the beginning of this title should be inline with the ampersand symbol.

The black and white logo should only be used when necessary (meeting memos, letters, or faxes) and should follow the same set up as the color logo. The color log should be used for all primary packaging.
