Campus Sectional Perspective

There is significant elevation changes where the campus buildings were to be located so having a site section was necessary. I watercolored the perspective to give the campus some life, and to show the different heights of the decking system that joins the campus buildings together.

Rainwater Collection and Air Circulation were the two inspirations for the design of the residence pods. The inverted pitch on the roof is visible on the Model made by hand with bass wood. tThere is a Breezeway through the center of the pod for additional circulation, and angled siding spaced enough to allow airflow through each room

This project site is located in Albany, NY. The Washington Ave. Armory is the large build-ing on the right. There were suggested programs such as a theatre, basketball court, and retail space to use which I ex-pounded on by adding spaces such as public and private racquetball courts, food court, art gallery, tennis courts, and rock climbing areas.

I created an internal atrium space where each floor can see into and where rock climbing is possible. If you are standing under the space you can still experience the rock climbing by viewing it through the glass floor. I linked the retail to both sides of the block but have it located closer to Washington Ave., the main public access street.

Since Elk Street is a residential street, I stepped the structure away from the street as it increased in height. This was to keep the new structure from feeling overwhelm-ing to the residences on the existing street.

My selection to design was the side of the site my group and I felt it was the most logical place to build a small residential community. I decided to go the path of multi-bedroom apartments and mix a variety places all differing from one another in layout, quantity of bedrooms, handicap accessibility, and even multi-floor units.

The Delhi Commons site is located in the town of Delhi, New York and is home to both a partially unused open space and a currently occupied area with mainly residen-tial homes. Main Street, the busiest street in Delhi, runs parallel to it. The objective for this project began as a class effort for the site devel-opment phase, a group effort for the conceptual design phase, and finally we worked independantly for the specific architectural design of a single building on the site.

Hand-drafted, water-color renderings of exterior and interior perspectives were re-quired regardless of the fact that my whole class and I were re-quired to draw our plans into Revit since we were learning it at the time.

This project presented a challenge for me. After a 4 week pin-up I decided to start from scratch again even though I only had two full weeks before the final review drawings were due. Luckily everything went smoothly and I was able to get every-thing done in time. This time I was much more confident in my design than before.

The SUNY Delhi Welcome Center was a site located on, what the name implies, the campus of SUNY Delhi. An extremely old building located near the entrance of the cam-pus made it an ideal candidate for a project such as this. Since it was so close we were able to visit it whenever we wanted to help get a better feel for the sur-rounding environment.
