Good Things Come to those Who Wait
AfterwardAs a final project for my Digital Media class we were to use several aspects of multimedia to create a narrative of our own. To start the create process we created several free-writes based on a set of 10 images our Professor gave to us. After looking at the pictures we had to choose one we could write about. We started with a ten minute free-write describing the picture itself; what was going on in the picture, including who, what, where it was taken, etc. The second free-write was to actually tell a story based on what was seen in the picture. It could either be able one of the individuals in the picture, the person taking the picture, or someone else associated with the picture. After the two free-writes we were to go back before the next class and fi-nalize our stories and make them as complete as we could.
The following class we played around with a set of five images that our professor gave us and understand how the order and adaptions of similar images can impact the story. Our assignment over the weekend was to use not only our camera, but our mind to take pictures that helped to tell our story or a specific part of the story. Using the knowledge we used earlier in the class about photography including, space, framing, design, and so on when taking our pictures from the very beginning of the story-making process.
The following week we looked through the images we captured and had to select 5,7 and 9 images to tell three separate stories. The only text allowed was a title and we could use pictures as many times as we thought suitable. After coming up with two variations of our 5, 7, and 9 frame stories we had to go back and clean up at least two of our original stories and make them better, either by adding, deleting, or re-arranging the images. After you felt all could be done with sequencing of your photos, you were to choose your favorite from each numbered frame stories. Once the 5, 7, and 9 frame stories were finalized we used Adobe Camera RAW and Adobe Pho-toshop to improve your images in any way you felt was needed. Creativity was encouraged, but the goal was to make the images look the best for their purpose within our individual story.
The final steps after all our images were com-pletely edited and processed to our liking, was to format and publish our stories. We used In-Design to create the pages to each of our stories and created title pages for each one, as well as backgrounds. Once everything was placed and complete the way we had envisioned, we saved our InDesign as a PDF and downloaded it to ISSUU to allow others to enjoy our individual-ism and creativeness.
My story is about a boy who is searching for something special for his parents. When the clouds come rolling in and the searching gets tough, time runs short and things get stressful. Luckily, right in time the boy is able to find the perfect gift for his parents, one of God’s beautiful cre-ations.
