Guidelines – Final Project EE 015 – Automation
Target CO:
CO3: Design a compensator and controller using root locus and frequency response techniques.
Concerns – Should you have any concerns, please feel free to email your instructor at [email protected] or
you may post a direct message at edmodo.
Final Project Component
As stated in the syllabus, your final project is equivalent to (1) long quiz which is 60% of the final grade. Copy of
the syllabus is available for download at our edmodo group.
Final Project Break Down:
Final Project Grade
= 30% Oral defense (Individual Grade) + 40% Documentation (Group Grade) + 30% Prototype
Oral Presentation Documentation Contents: Prototype
Ability to Answer Question: 50% Title Page – 5% Functionality – 60%
Delivery: 40% Objectives – 10% Prototyping Practices – 40%
Table of Contents
Visual Aids: 10% Prepare a powerpoint presentation for your defense. Observe best practices in powerpoint presentations. The group is only given 20 minutes maximum to present.
Technical Problem , Objectives and Specifications – 10%
Functionality includes the target specs in your design was successfully met. Prototyping practices includes proper soldering, PCB layout and design, use of standards (process and materials in protototyping)
Design – 30%
Design Constraints and Standards – .30%
Results and Simulations – 10%
Task Assignment/Distribution of Group Members – 10%
Individual Reflection Paper about the Final Project – 5%
Note: Final Project in Soft Bound with CD that contains the softcopy of the project, video (step by step process) etc….
Use Engineering Lettering Font for Documentation. Save the file as pdf before printing to avoid formatting issues.
Title Page The title page must have: a. school name and address b. title of the project (eg. PLC: Bottle Line Assembly) c. 1 x 1 picture of group members with name tag d. instructor’s name (eg. Engr. Dennis Jefferson A. Amora, MEng) e. subject information ( eg EE 015 – Automation) Technical Problem , Objectives and Specifications
a. at least 3 objectives that your final project wants to accomplish ( eg. Design of a PID….) b. The technical problem in your design that you want to solve c. Target specifications that your design wanted to meet
Design Proper This is the part where you will demonstrate your design. Design Constraints and Standards
What are the constraints you consider in your design (economics, functionality, etc..) Have you consider some standards during designing ( IEEE, ANSI, etc..) Results Provide a screenshots of your output simulations. You need to explain each screenshots you provide. Task Assignment/Distribution of Group Members Create a table to present what are the assignment or contribution of each members in the completion of the final project.
Reflection Paper This is individual. Every group member must have a reflection paper regarding the final project. They may share if they meet the Cos of the course. They may share how the project help them in future endeavours.

Final Project Grouping
A group is composed of 5 members maximum. Students under my lec and lab subjects may present the same
project for their lec and lab project requirement. Students who are not enrolled in my lab subject may present
their lab project as their lecture project requirement.
DEFENSE SCHEDULE –
1. Please send a list of your group members before 9/19.
The oral defense and submission of docu in softbound will be on September 29 (10:30 -1:30) and October 1
(1:30 – 4:30) both @ SAL. Each group is only given 20 minutes to present (oral/prototype). Late group will not
be given another chance to present. Absent during the oral defense will not be given another chance to defend
and shall receive a oral defense grade of 0. Wearing of formal attire is optional. Technical problems should not
be a reason to ask for redefense. The group must ensure backup copies to be used during the defense.
