DUE DATE: Due in class (printed version) – Week 9 OVERVIEW: The Graduation Plan Project serves as a guide to you in building an individualized four-year curriculum roadmap that will encompass all degree requirements. This project will teach you how to navigate the curriculum, feel informed on your options, and create a plan to graduate on time. This project requires you to have Excel downloaded on your laptop/device. GRADING INFORMATION: This project is worth 100 points total (50% of final grade). The goal of this project is to ensure you have accounted for every degree requirement for your program. 5 points will be deducted for each missing degree requirement. For example: Missing GWR: - 5 points Missing BUS 401: -5 points =90% (90/100) INSTRUCTIONS: A. Download the Graduation Plan Project Template from PolyLearn. Save excel document to your personal laptop/device. Read these instructions thoroughly. B. Access and review your Degree Progress Report (DPR) via Student Center. C. The Degree Progress Report (DPR) is an online tool managed by the Office of the Registrar that indicates your status on requirements to graduation for your major. Course requirements / areas you have completed will show as a green circle. Course requirements / areas not yet completed will show as a red square. Course requirements / areas that are in progress will show as a yellow triangle. D. Follow the steps below to begin inputting courses into your STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN. As you input your degree requirements on the STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN, degree requirements in the CURRICULUM GUIDE will turn green (“Yes”), indicating you have this requirement in progress or planned. Any requirements listed under the CURRICULUM GUIDE that are not inputted into your STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN will be left as red (“No”), which indicates these degree requirements are not planned. In addition to your planned courses, include the unit value for each course

STEP 1: EXTERNAL COURSEWORKTo see your external coursework, go to your Student Center (Portal), then access the External Credit Tab. This will indicate which AP / IB tests and transfer coursework you have completed, and how it has transferred to Cal Poly.

Input your Advanced Placement (AP) / International Baccalaureate (IB) test or any higher education transfer college credit in STEP 1: EXTERNAL COURSEWORK columns:

o AP/IB Exam or Transfer Credit Course (Test ID & Component)o Cal Poly SLO Requirement Met (Cal Poly Course)o Units Received

*If you do not have any credit outside of Cal Poly, go to STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN.

STEP 2: GRADUATION PLANUsing the CURRICULUM GUIDE, begin inputting all graduation requirements into STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN. Input your currently enrolled courses and unit values for Fall 2019. Then, indicate which courses you will take and when you will take them throughout the rest of your four years on your STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN. Your completed Graduation Plan should include:

Major Courses Concentration Courses (must select on

drop-down menu in CURRICULUM GUIDE) Support Courses GE Courses

GWR (graduation writing requirement) USCP (united states cultural pluralism) 180-unit requirement for graduation *OPTIONAL: Study Abroad and Minors

CONSIDERATIONS WHEN INPUTTING COURSES ON YOUR GRADUATION PLAN:o Do you meet the prerequisites of the course you are planning to take?

o Reference: HELPFUL LINKS – 2019-2020 Course Catalogo Have you chosen a concentration and inputted the correct concentration courses?

o Reference: HELPFUL LINKS – Orfalea Concentration Optionso Have you inputted courses that you already have credit for?

o Check back to STEP 1: EXTERNAL CREDIT to ensure you have not planned a course on your STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN that you’ve already fulfilled.

o Input other graduation requirements to input into your STEP 2: GRADUATION PLAN:o GWR – Graduation Writing Requirement (WPE or C4 w/ GWR)o USCP – United States Cultural Pluralism (must be completed through a course)o 180-unit requirement – See “Cumulative Total (+External Units)”o *OPTIONAL: Indicate that you plan to study abroad by inputting the courses you plan to

complete while abroad, then type “Abroad” in that quarter. For minors, input your planned minor courses in the appropriate quarters. Study abroad and minors will not impact grade.
