Concept Video Games

The basic idea for this final project is to make a piece about video games. Through out my experience as a gamer I have come across certain situations were my passion was criticized. People would tell me all the time that playing video games all the time will get you nowhere. In this piece I would like to prove them wrong. For this final project I would like to do a piece about the history of video games. I will focus on a specific time period in the past that show the development of the video games and by incorporating historical aspects of video games. I hope to display my passion as a game design major and my feelings towards video games. I will draw from the knowledge that I received this semester from my gaming classes such as: The history of game design (GAME 210), basic game design (Game 230), and etc. 

The reason that I am doing this project on video games is to show the historical importance of video games to non-gamers. Also to show the educational side of video games to someone who might be interested. In my opinion I feel as though some times people underestimate the topic its self and don’t really think much of it. I want this final project to also express how game design is a art medium. I am hoping to change the minsd of others by showing the value of video games through a gamer’s perspective. Also, to enlighten others that video games aren’t just mindless toys.  

I want to show the relationship between videogames and my life as well. In order to show the relationship between the history of video games and I. I am going to focus on the console war. Basically the console war was the fight for dominance of video game market between Nintendo and Sega. Also, I was born in the console war. I am going to show how the console wars affected me as child. I am hoping to display my imagination and feelings when playing video games. This should be a fun project.
