17 Apr 2014 - 16 May 2014 Project Selection Period (Actions by Students)

16 May 2014 (Fri) Deadline for submitting your preference form "Choice of UG Final Year Project" (overseas students should take into account of the time difference)

17 May 2014 - 28 May 2014 1st Round Selection, 2nd Round Selection (Actions by the Department)

29 May 2014 (Thu) Results of the project selection to be announced on web

30 May 2014 (Fri) Selection process is completed. Students start to prepare for FYP.

Jun 2014 Summer Session commences. Students start work on the project in the Summer term.

What are the deliverables?• Two reports

• Progress Report (Monthly reports included)• Final Report (Monthly reports included)

• One Oral Presentation

• One Poster Presentation

• Submission of all deliverables (2 reports + 1 poster presentation + 1 oral presentation) is a necessary condition to pass the FYP.

Important Reminders

Internship or Exchange Program

If you intend to take ONE-year internship/exchangeprogram, you MUST postpone your FYPs BY ONEYEAR to the next round of FYP.

However, those who will be taking ONE-semester (Fall or Spring) internship/exchange can follow the special study pattern. http://course.ee.ust.hk/fyp14/Pattern/Exchange-Internship_Guide-1sem.htm◦ You can choose to graduate in Summer or Fall given you have

completed enough credits.

Good Partners

You should inform the supervisor and teammates of your willingness to take internship/exchange program (either in Fall or Spring semester, or both) and confirm the FYP study pattern well before you select the project.

Find the "suitable" partner for doing the project, not a partner for "entertainment".

Change of Pattern

Changes on FYP study pattern should NOT bemade after a semester/session commences.

"Cannot finish the FYP work" is NOT anexcuse to change the pattern in the middle of asemester/session.

If you fail in one term, you need to retake thatterm with the same supervisor.

EP Option: (3Y)

Every FYP-EP option should contain a Business Plan, which should cover from 25 to 50% of the whole project size.

Additional pages (up to 20) are allowed to usual FYP page limit in case of FYP-EP option.

4Y, CPEG, 4Y CPEG Students

If you are a 4Y ECE student and want to start your FYP this year: ◦ You will be enrolled with a different course code and thus different

credits (6).◦ You will be required to take LANG 4031 in this fall.◦ EP option no longer available

If you are a 3Y CPEG student ◦ You can choose to select your FYP topics from either ECE or CSE.◦ Note that ECE FYP starts in the summer

If you are a 4Y CPEG student ◦ You can choose to select your FYP topics from either ECE or CSE.◦ Note that ECE and CSE have different policies on course enrollments

and credits.
