It's the 26th year of the fabulous Bay ofPlenty Export NZ Awards and this year'sunique theme is the 1950s Golden Age ofAir Travel.

Finalists throughout the Bay of Plenty aregearing up in glam 1950s garb - reminiscentof a time when flying was a luxurious

experience for the affluent - to celebrateexporting achievements.

This garb may include posh 1950s travellerattire, rock and roll getups, aviationthemed or black tie, says executive officerMelissa Conrad.

“We thought this would be a fun theme, celebrating a time when air travel was veryglamorous with copious amounts of legroom and pampering... and it's in-keepingwith our exporters as 'flying high' and

EXPORT New Zealand has once again, been staggered by the popularity of theawards night.

Table tickets have been snapped upwithin 24 hours of going on sale.

Melissa says the quick turnaround waspleasing and the new social media andExport Awards website played a part in theevents sell-out success.

They also had the most amount of entriesthis year - and the judges had some veryhard decisions to make.

“We did have more entries than previousyears and a number of businesses missed outon becoming finalists - it is hugely competitive.

“But it is a positive as it's indicative thatbusinesses are doing very well in theBay of Plenty.”

A CELEBRATION OF

EXPORTING SUCCESSaviation is obviously an important part oftheir business. This is how some of ourexporters get their products to market.”

The fun 1950s theme and “flying toexport success” play-on-words will be thebackground to the export awards wherelocal companies get to shine and receivethe recognition they deserve for theirexporting successes.

Each year organisers strive to think ofoutrageous, fun-powered themes to create

the “event of the year” and it is alwayssomething out of the ordinary.

This year the sponsors of the Bay of PlentyExport NZ Awards decided to show off theiracting skills and sense of humour in a hilariousvideo which perfectly showcases the themefor the awards night, the people involved andthe fantastic sponsors. The teaser video wasreleased in March and has revealed somesurprising comedic talents in the mix. View thevideo on www.bopexportnzawards.org.nz
