It was a magnificent afternoon for the A grade as we posted our first finals win in 3 years in what
was a brutal hard fought 3 goal victory over Scotch at Scotch Oval.
There were no easy kicks to be had as both sides threw themselves at the contest and the
game went basically goal for goal until the last 10 minutes of the final quarter. Both sides used
the footy quite well but it was our ability to capitalise on our opportunities that made the
difference. The win was made all the more impressive given we lost 3 players to injury before
half time which meant we played the second half with only 1 on interchange.
Our contested possession and use of the footy was the best it has been all season and credit
must go to the playing group who played to direction, were resilient and stayed in the contest.

Up at Golden Grove on Saturday the C grade had the chance to book a place in the D8 grand
final if successful. We took this opportunity by playing a fantastic team based brand of football.
Every one of the 25 players did their bit as required in a tough tight battle against a quality side
in Golden Grove.
There was a fairly strong breeze blowing to the Southern end and after a term each with the
wind we held a 7 point margin at half time. During the 3rd quarter we copped a couple of injuries
Tim Sanders (hammy) Fraser Ellis (ribs) Will Latchford (ankle) Greg Honner (blood rule)
magnets were flying everywhere. The boys left out on the field still pressed on and kept
attacking but we only scored 5 points for our efforts to GG 3 goal straight. GG were now
starting to show signs of running out of steam while we were still going strong.
This proved to be the case as we kicked 3 goals to 1 in the final term to end up winning by 6
points.
Special mention for Alex Butenko/Lucas Lovell who combined to keep GG main midfielder very
quiet and to Harry Barnes at full back who followed my instructions very well.
This was a TEAM win.

Jackson Myhill, Chris Spencer
The D’s arrived at Uni Oval greeted by a perfect day for Footy and the opportunity to go straight
through to the Grand Final. With several lads playing in their first final, and being up against the
bigger, stronger and more experienced bodies from Hope Valley, the aim was to stay in touch
early, and look to run over the top in the second half.
We were winning plenty of the footy, especially later in each quarter, and had it not been for a
few missed opportunities, we potentially could have been closer. Nevertheless, 21 points at the
main break wasn’t too bad, especially when you consider we were 10 goals down at the half last
time we met.
We broke even in the third term with 2-3 apiece and there was a real buzz in the group at three
quarter time. At the start of the last we took the game on and kicked the first two to draw within
7pts. Unfortunately the Hope Valley reply was swift and definitive as they kicked clear and
finished the game with the last 5 majors.
Cam Burfield’s game across half forward was impressive. Given the pressure our ball carriers
were under, the delivery forward wasn’t great, however this didn’t bother Cam who really stood
up and showed he’s comfortable playing in the big games. The usual suspects of Politis, Garry,
Olsson and Spencer can all be proud of their efforts, while Jacko Myhill came down for his first
D-grade game and showed a bit of class with his ball use.
Having now played our first final and blown out the nerves, the lads will be a little more poised
around the ground and going into the forward 50. We can expect to, and will need to, put out a
stronger performance this week in the Prelim Final up against CLG who have been impressive
in the second half of the season.

Semi Final 1 Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Tot
PAOC 2.5 6.9 8.15 11.18 84
Kenilworth 2.3 4.3 7.5 7.6 48
Goal Kickers: Scot Tyndall 4, John Waltham 3, Matt Faull 2, Alex Bond 1, Scot Boorman 1
Best Players: Alex Bond, Matt Faull, Tom Prest, Nick Pemberton, Andrew Sykes, Alfie Brown
Back from respective holidays after feeling the need to freshen up week 1 of the finals, the E
Grade welcomed back Tyndall, Smith and Pemberton. Alfie Brown also showed great courage
to return from a minor bruise to the leg that is yet to appear.
The side was quick out the blocks kicking with a slight breeze but we failed to cash in with some
inaccurate kicking and a slight lack of discipline allowing Kenilworth to only trail by 2 points at
quarter time.
The team fought hard into the breeze though and won the second quarter and went in at half
time feeling confident. The usual comments of how much fitter we are than them floated around
the rooms with many players mistaking young age for fitness. Coach Rohde hammered home
the fitness idea though and the side believed heading into the second half.
The third term was again a story of missed opportunity as Tyndall continued to spray the ball
everywhere when shooting for goal. 11 extra scoring shots only resulted in a 16 point lead at
three quarter time!
Our dominance had broken Kenilworth though as the fight went out of them in the last quarter.
We now get another crack at Scotch this week which the side is very much looking forward to.
