“Thanks to all who were praying for the showing of
the Luke film. We were able to show it in a
compound beside the road so that people passing
might see and stop to watch. It is a Muslim compound, and we
were grateful they allowed it to be shown there. Several
people from that compound watched, including the man who is
the head of the compound. It wasn't a huge crowd either night
(first night about 35 people and second night about 55), but
this is the first time it was shown in this area. For most of
those people, it was the first time they were seeing the film.
Many of the people are non-churched people so they know very
little about Jesus. One of my neighbours was selling peanuts in
the market on Saturday. After I greeted her, she asked me when we would be able to show the film again.
A man drowned in the lake on Thursday. His family attends the
church where Pius pastors. That evening Pius planned to show
the film at the man's compound, and many people who had
come to sit with the family were waiting to see it.
Unfortunately, a young man had his loud speaker system with
music and he insisted that he should start playing music for the
people to hear. Because he kept turning up his music, they
finally stopped the Luke film. The people were very angry
because they wanted to see the film. They picked up their
stools and went home, with only the church people remaining
to sit with the family. Saturday evening he was able to show it, and a lot of people from the community around came to watch.
We all are hoping that the film can be shown several more
times before the rains come too much. Normally, rainy season
begins in the middle of March, but the rains only fall
sporadically at first. Please pray that the ICCS in Bamunka,
Bambalang and Bafanji will make this a priority for the next few
months as it really is a great tool for helping people come to know more about Jesus.”
